Shot fair tonight, hit 22 and then a 23.I tried one of those recoilless shotguns tonight, sounds just like shooting my AR with the spring in the stock going twang.

Hit 5 for 5 with it, might have to invest in one.Didn't even feel it kick at all, and I like the bolt action style action.

Nope ,not bad at all.

I have been shooting trap for over 15 years now, maybe longer if you count the messing around we did as kids up North.

Key thing is consentration and mounting the gun the same way each time.

You can have the most expensive trap grade Kreagoff and still shot poor if you don't mount the gun the same each time.

Then lots of rounds of practice.

I havent felt on in a long time. I can get 23 or 24 straight then drop the last targets an they are easy targets too!!:( been 6 months since i shot a 25. and that day i shot a 96 out of 100. I think I'm counting then choking. My daughter is realy starting to improve with her new gun though, I think I'm going to be in trouble having a 13 year old beating her old man!!

That's the wonderful thing about trap shootong. It's a wicked mind game. The shooters that can clear their mind can really be "on" all the time. I can't remember how many times I've shot 24 straight. I will either miss the very 1st bird then crush the rest or I'll get to the very last one and kiss it goodbye "loss". Only once have I been able to get a 25 and I just about crapped. I fought myself the entire time trying no to count birds and what not.

For me, it seems that the targets that should be the most difficult are the ones I hit regularly while the easy, slight angles are the ones that get me. Oh well, just means more shooting. Good times.

If you are missing the last bird or two, that is a mental problem. You just have to work through it. Maybe start focusing on your score out of 50 rather than 25. I dunno, maybe call a shooting instructor or post on a trap forum. If you are missing the slight angles, try going at an off-time for the facility and asking them to lock the machine in that position and shoot an entire round until you have it nailed. Oh, it is a great sport isnt it?

well I shot a 23 last night in the rain and wind. then i tried someone elses gun and shot a 19 frown.gif. I quit after that. my daughter shot an 11 at the 25 yard line. Her first time ever shooting handicap!! as for me it's a mental thing. I need to focus on the target and shoot 1 target at a time. Thanks for the 50 idea I'm going to try that next time. Then I'l only choke at 48 LOL!

Shot two 24's in a row last night.Windy, cold and rain.

Stared out to shoot my Mosberg 500AT with a high rise trap barrel.Problems with the safety, wouldn't release the trigger until I messed with it.Then "BOOM", good thing I always watch the muzzel.

Had to switch to my Winchester Super X model 1 Trap model, then dust on all but the last one on each round.

Yep can't agree more that it's 9o% mental,5% skill and 5% luck.Just got to over confedent on the last birds.

Shot my CETME at the rifle range before the legue started.Man those milsurps are a barrel of fun. smile.gif

I haven't shot a single round of trap in about 6 years. Before that I shot in league in Red Wing until the airport expansion closed our range and then even before that I shot all through college including one trip we made to the NCAA's.

In all that shooting I'd never had a 25. A few 24's and lots of 23's but no 25's. BUT, my buddy got a new SBE II this week and was just dying to try it out. He stopped at the house just as I was firing up the lawnmower and talked me into a practice round out before the leagues tonight. I scrounged around and found my shell pouch and some reloads I have and wouldn't you know it I went out and busted a 25 tonight! I'm real happy with that. It was fun to get out there and do it again. Can't get away with another hobby right now, but I kind of wish I could shoot some more after tonight!!! grin.gif

The last three weeks I shot a 24 every Tuesday, should have hit the other missed birds but got my self in too big of a hury and shot to fast.

Last night they seemed to be too slow, had a hard time slowing down my swing to stay with the bird.

Hlding a 23 average up at BeaverBrook, I am in the top 20 shooters out there.

The top gun so far is a 24.5 ave.,so I doubt I will catch up to that person.

I shoot out at Crow River next week for my work league, I hope the weather is nice so I can get a chance at a straight 50 out there.Shot one last year, even came close to a 100 but missed a couple at the last station.CHOKED BIG TIME THERE!!!!

I got my 100 two years ago. The last few were a little nerve racking, I will say that. I am starting to feel in the groove again and my avg stands at 23.3. I have yet to shoot at Beaverbrook...just havent had the time. Do you know if they have any tourneys out there this summer? I would like to try one.

For me those 25's are hard to come by. I have been away from the trap for several years but I am starting to get back into the groove of this also. My 13 y/o is running out of spots to put his 25 patches on his vest. Of course he lets me know that on a regular basics too.

It is fun to see the kids involved in this sport. Their eye/hand coordination is incredible. It is almost like they are natural at it. Bemidji Trap and Skeet club will have two scholastic programs this season. One for the Jr’s (grades 7-9) and one for the seniors (grades 10-12). I am looking forward to being a part of this program.

That is the one thing BeaverBrook lacks, I have been after the board for years to start a JR scholastic shooters coarse or at least get a kids shooting program going.

I was told the club didn't want to open it up to the general public, that's why they have stayed out of the shooting programs out there.

We do have several younger people shooting on teams, and they are all encuraged to do so.

Maybe I will have to stump for a board position some day.
