riverrat56
I've seen it before, they were the big thing a few years ago and kind of fell by the wayside from what i've seen. I fish at least 2 times a week and i think this year i only lost maybe a handful of fish at the bottom of the hole. Also i use a 10 inch auger and i really don't feel a need to make the bottom any bigger, the main advatage i see is on an 8 inch auger or when sight fishing it would be nice. Also realize it cuts on the way back up so figure a 25% increase in the time it takes to drill your hole.RR56
Phred52
Did you notice that as of noon Saturday, there were no bids? That's pretty much why you hadn't seen it before. Alot of smoke, little fire. I'd venture to guess that anyone on FM that did buy one, more than likely can't tell you where it is today.
Valv
Did you notice box has a price tag of $ 52.00 and a sale tag of $ 37.00 Bid + shipping is $ 39.00 !!!! What a maroon ???
iffwalleyes
These things were suppose to be the IT thing a few years ago. But, from what I have heard they often the cutter blade wouldn't retrack like it was suppose to. So it would wedge your auger in the hole and you couldn't pull it back up. Graywolf
IFFWalleyes has hit it right on the nose. We sold these when they first came out and EVERY ONE was returned except the ones on the bottom of the lake still attached to the flighting. A spring would break and unless the ice was shallow it was almost impossible to pull your auger out of the hole. If you could reach in the cold water (with all the sharp edges that your numb hands couldn't feel) and manually retract it, then the auger could be removed and we saw the customer the next day returning the item. Do NOT even THINK of buying one of these.

Phred52
Valv, No, I didn't even see the price tag until you mentioned it. To all, Some 25th century Archiologist(sp) will declare those things to be a long lost Icefishermans spiral spear circa the 20th/21st century. Though it could only be used once before the "spiral spear"(spiraled for accuracy) had to be replaced. Sure, they'll have a few remaining powerheads (aka "launchers") but they'll lose the "spiral spear" trying to prove their theory. Makes ya wanna leave instructions, don't it? Surface Tension
I heard the same thing, they stick open and you have a hard time getting your auger back. Still I want to try one out. If anyones looking for a new home for their spiral spear and it'll fit a StrikeMaster I know where you can dump it.
