H2O
I own a fish trap voyageur and am considering putting the hyfax runners on it. Are they worth the money or is it just another "extra" that a guy doesn't need. I was also curious how well they stay attached once they are installed, with all those nuts and bolts, I don't really want to be tightening them all the time. Any info is appreciated. Granny
I had them put on my Polor Sport Nordic and I love them. I don't know of anyone that will tell you not to put them on. If you pulling the sled by hand it makes it much easier and it saves on the wear and tear on you sled. If your going down hill watch out behind you because the sled will come down pretty fast! I have only had mine on one year and no problems. I would rather replace a $50 part than a whole sled when it gets holes in it.Granny
Gadgetman
If you are pulling your trap with a machine it is pretty much a necessary item, unless you want a hole in your tub. Pay now or later. As for the bolts and nuts they have the nylon keeper insert in them so once they are on you can forget about them
gspman
I have them on my Polar Sport Nordic as well and they work very nice on ice and crusty snow. If you are on fluffy snow it won't matter as much because the whole tub will be plowing snow which make pulling by hand much more difficult. They do protect your tub nicely especially if you have to drag it on gravel or asphalt etc. too. I'd get them if I were you.
Trouthunter
The only "problem" I had with mine was the hyfax are pretty stiff to wrap around the corners on the tub. I trimmed them so they would just exist on the bottom and not wrap around. Definetly a must have.BD
Northlander
Hyfax is a must in my opinion. Even when just pulling by hand your tub will wear, especially on blacktop or gravel/sand. Look around at plastic sign shops and ask them if they have any scraps you could rip into strips. I have gotten enough to do 6 houses for about $45. All you need is a table saw. In order to get the strips to hug tightly to your house you may need to heat them with a hairdryer or a propane torch. Be carefull with the torch not to melt them. It doesnt take much heat to be ble to bend them into place. Even if you have to pay full retail its worth the cost.
booshy
I had a fish trap guide that I put the hyfax on and I like the fact the tub didn't get damamged. They are a bit stiff but I was able to attach the front portion first and then use the leverage to bend the rest and attach. They never loosened up on me and staying in place nicely. Good luck

nauticaljohn
I used a handheld torch to get the strips to conform to the sled bottom. Not too much. They will start to wrap when you've reached the proper heat.
