TROLLING RAPALAS

Im wondering if i should use a cross lock on my rapalas for better action for the lure versus tying direct? Thanks for the help.

Lee using crosslock will give your lures more action when trolling plus its easier to change lures if needed.

You could also install a split ring on your Rapalas and tie direct to the split ring. Been doing that for years and find I get much better action this way.!DIRTBALL

tying a Rapala knot will also give you maximum action.

If you ever troll after dark, be sure you use a cross lock. Tying in the dark gets a little frustrating. Much easier to change lures/colors.

I also like the crosslocks. My reason like many others mentioned is the knots. I personally like the Palomar knot and swooping the loop over a Rapala or any crankbait is not always easy.

one more thing, I cast and troll cranks with Fireline and I hate cleaning all the knots of the eyes after tying direct.

I have been using a crosslock snap for a few years now. The best thing I like about is I can switch my lure out really easy and fast.

I will second or third localguide on the crosslock...mainly if you fish during dark.... or just plain lazzy tying the correct knot...hahha..really I like them much easier too switch lures......

I use Norman Speed Clips - you can get them at bass pro. They're not as common as duo locks but in my opinion they're better. Whichever you use, it sure beats tieing them on directly.
