Is it time for prime eelpout?

Are the pout spawning yet? I was thinking of heading out to try and find some. Would it be worthwhiole or woud it be a waste of my time?

My freezer has 5 X's more Eelpout meat in it than all other fish combined. They excite me more than walleyes do.

Twice this year, I've been made fun of for throwing small 'pout back into the lake. It just made me feel that much better.

We either kept or released out pout this year also. It was odd, we'd go on a run of walleyes for 15-20 mins, then a run of pout, then a run of tullibees. Quite the cycle.

Poor mans lobster we keep a couple a year they taste great.

Lake of the Woods is the place to go for big Pout.

In the years past I have had good success on burbot here in Bemidji during the spawn on Pink/Glow Phelp's Glow Spoons tipped with a minnow head... or two... or three...

I understand the poor mans lobster nickname to an extent, but does that mean if I eat it I'm poor, if so, I'm broke as h*ll.

Now the nickname Lawyer fish, could come with a few meanings, but do we even dare discuss how they got that nickname? hehehehe.

Matt, i have some friends in Bemidji and might be heading up there sometime soon. Are the pout spawning yet out on Bemidji?

They may have, I don't consider it "time" yet however. I always wait until the week after houses have to be removed to start hunting them hard.

Last year it was the last week of March that was the best for us.
