Marcum LX-3 - Changing to use for ice fishing from a boat setup

I am looking at buying my buddies lx-3 he only used for open water. Anyone know what it would take to use on the hard water?

You can buy a transducer for open water. You can go to the Marcum site and order one there.

Thanks guys, I guess I could order them from marcum but i do not see a kit on their site for this. Maybe I can get it at gander?

Think it would be about $100 for case, battery and ice ducer?

do a search on yahoo for marcum they do have these items for sale at other websites or call the people at marcum and they can hook you up the transducer is about $75 battery $45 and the case is $30 these are all estimates but the prices are pretty close

If you have a fleet farm near you they may be able to hook you up for a better price then going to the factory. I got my battery for $12.oo on sale with a basic charger. I looked at getting a boat set-up last year and they where alot less than what is posted on the Marcum site.

Another quick question. How do I go from ice fishing pack to open water. I like the idea of the vex having the thru hull design transducer. Will that transducer work for the lx-3 also?

Just a few comments here, I know you said that it was just an estimate but if you are paying 45 bucks for a battery you just got ripped off, the bobber shop in mankato had them for 19 and i can get them in town for 21, also the ones at the bobber shop are the exact battery that comes with the marcum, if it doesnt have a soft pack you dont need to buy one unless you want it, the vexilars never use them you wouldnt have to if you didnt want to.

If you have any questions just email Marcum they will be glad to help you out, when i purchased my LX-3 it was missing the charger, i emailed them and i had one at my house in 3 days, no questions asked.

Feldy, there is a transducer that can mount on the outside of the hull like any other locater.

Try [email protected] they will help you. The battery is $17, The DCS is $29, the charger is $15 and I think the case is about $30.

I've looked around the web and haven't found many places with the ice ducer but will check with them.

Ordered the ice ducer and the soft case (was told it had the holder to secure the transducer).

Received my order 7 business days after I ordered(shipping across the twin cities).

After receiving the case it is a cheap knock off, doesn't have the holder for the ice ducer and it was $30.

I hope to call them tomorrow and get my $ back for it. I guess I will see if a vex soft pack will work for it, anyone know if it will?

The Vex case will not work on your Marcum. The Marcum is a wider outfit and square at the bottom not round like a Vex. Did you order from Marcum?

Yes, I ordered straight from marcums Customer Service :-(

The case is nothing but a cheap piece of vinyl with a couple zippers.

Also there is no place for the unit to be screwed in, does it just sit in there against the battery?

Thanks pete, I called today and they just mistakenly told me that getting the soft case is all I need. I don't have the base as it's an open water setup.

They were great and will ship me out one now.

I just want to chime back in a little late and say that Marcum took care of me big time and was great help. Even if they made a mistake they helped me w/ everything!!
