Scenic
In response to several email and phone calls, here is our plan, we will be fishing Rainy Lake at what is known as Rainy Lake City in the early morning and evenings. This is a great place to find some larger Pike as well as walleye. During the day depending on fishing we may slide down the lake closer to town and fish Sand Bay. My personal plan is to set up a tip-up as a dead line and jig with the other line for some walleye. (Rainy Lake Walleye love Angel Eyes) On both Fri. and Sat. we will leave details with the Rambler motel if this changes. I have been told that these areas are accessible by truck.Sunday morning our plan is to be out of I’Falls by around 0500. At that time we will be heading to LOW to Long Point Resort. It has been recommended that people stop in Baudette and purchase your emerald shiners or other bait. Our plan is planning to meet at Long Point Resort between 0700 and 0730. My plan for some of us is to fish Long Point until dark. I would like to move in shallow in the evening and see if we can find a trophy or two in the shallow rocks. Again if you miss us there in the morning we will try to leave word as to where the main group is fishing. It is my understanding that extensions are needed as there is a lot of snow cover on the lake up there so if you have one it may be a good idea to bring it along. This event is coming up fast. Don’t forget the Sat. night Pot Luck at the Rambler. Everyone is welcome. I am going to have a couple of fryers and breading for frying fish or whatever else you would like fried and there will be a couple of grills for our use there as well. I am hoping that the weather cooperates with us and we can all sit outside and socialize some on this evening. There may be a small place for a small contained fire to sit around. Most of all I am looking forward to this just all out being a fun event all around. The fish are going to be bonus. For those of you who are not familiar with Rainy Lake please be sure to pick up a regulation book and check the regs on the different slot sizes. I am looking forward to meeting some new faces and seeing the ones I know again.
Deitz Dittrich
Jeff-I know both my father and and I are really looking forward to this... This week just simply will not go fast enough. I too am looking forward to giving my new beaver dam tip up a workout! And the Angle Eyes have been packed and ready to go for oever a week already... I had to buy an extension... I needed one anyways! All I need now is bait.. Jeff will the em shiners be the bait of choice on rainy as well Or just regular shiners or fatheads? Scenic
I know the feeling Deitz...know it well. I am going to try to find emerlds up there if I can but not sure I can get them in I'Falls. If not I will use regular shiners and fat heads.

Tom Linderholm
Question for anyone that knows, I'll be with you all on Friday and Sat am and wondering what the "ice road" conditions are and if it is worthwhile to bring a 4 wheeler for mobility or will the silverado make it everywhere I need to be? Scenic
The reports that I have as of today we can drive to some pretty good spots on Rainy and LOW. There is a lot of snow on both lakes and I am not sure about the use of an ATV.

Old Guide
A buddy and I fished Long pt today. The roads on the lake are excellent, lots of areas opened up to drive your vehicle to. We fished to the east, We were blessed with a fast moving high system. Weather you dream about clear sky no wind just perfect but slow fishing. We left early so we didn't get to do the evening bite. But Sunday is another day! Hope to see everyone on sunday am. Pat

wallydiver
Sounds like this is going to be quite an event. I can't wait! I'll make it up to Long point Sunday. I've got some frozen ciscos and suckers if we decide to head a litte west for some northern fishing too. I like Jeffs idea of moving in on the rocks to look for some trophies in the evening.
