Northlander,

To answer one of your questions. I'm sure it was myself that cought the most smelt last season. It's kind of hard to catch them when your standing on shore blowing smoke up peoples back sides grin.gif

I've got new 5 gal pails for this year and they will be going home with me. It's getting close.

Take care,

Tom (BD110)

Thomas Thomas Thomas. By the time you got your net out I had several nights of Fun in. grin.gif I seem to remember pulling in several seigns full of smelt. You see I dont just work hard I work effeciently. I sit back, watch and learn. I learn that you will do all the work for little pay. I on the other hand only work when getting paid. If you make a pull and get nothing I sit by the fire or cooler. If you pull and get paid for it then I go to work. You know its a union boy thing. grin.gif

Well speak of the devil! Good to hear you are still out there load. As far as placement goes last year. It is tough to compete when you miss 5 nights and have to revert to a 14 foot boat. We held our own otherwise. Gonna be a little different this year. wink.gif

Drew, the first step in curing a addicition is admitting to it and I believe you have taken the first step. welcome aboard, and remember we share information here not just take it. grin.gif

As far as the smelting goes. Pulled the waders out today. Bring them on!

Cheffrey you and I both know Drew won league last year by biting off of our fantastic info on this forum! Hopefully Drew now that you are out of the closet you can help out and contribute. You have a wealth of knowledge and Im sure people on here would love to hear some of it. No top secret hot spots or anything maybe just some techniques and general bite info. You dont have to name anything you dont want. I promise I wont bring up that your boat runs much better in the water than on land. grin.gif Ooops I guess I just did.

Anyways dont be a stranger.

Hey Loadmaster that goes for you too! Its nice to know your still making deliveries. By the way dont believe what those guys on your route tell ya about the bite. Thats a notorious bunch of B.S.ers out that way. Only ones worse are the ones on that London Road route. blush.gif

Hey North if your so sure you can catch the "BIG WALLEYES" , Why don't you show up for the Monday night walleye division? You could take home all of the cash and prizes. Anyway, hope to see everyone on Monday night at Mr D's. Please feel free to contact me with questions, I can always be reached at Re/Max.

Also, what kind of info would you like me to share? I am open to just about anything all you have to do is ask.

Drew, the problem was there was no $ and Prizes for Big Walleye. Not even a gift certificate. Oh well chalk it up to experience. I enjoy myself much more when Im not running from lake to lake prefishing. I will however be subbing for several people. I dont have to worry about prefishing then.

As far as info you can just give general tackle info and techniques as you go along the summer. If your catching fish you can tell us and if you feel you can tell what body of water. No exact spots. Really anything you feel that is of worth you can share. Like that hot bite you had in that one bay last year and the year before! grin.gif

see ya on the water and stay off my walleye hole. grin.gif

Its true Drew you are a wealth of information. Just share what you care to share and if you see a post that can use your advice give what ya got.

As far as Steve goes I think he is concerned that now that I have more power I might be able to take rank on him. LOL smirk.gif

Cheffrey its not that. I need all the $ I can get for my Vacation and I figure if I charge you $20 a spot I can go on you! grin.gif That and the $100 you offered me for every time I sub for ya Ill have a lot of gas money for the Yamaha. Cripe I could even pay for my new mast! blush.gif

Heck maybe I can afford to pay Drew for some of his hotspots. What do ya say Drew? blush.gif

(P.S. this post is totally fictional, the names have been kept to keep it semi funny)

Well just a little recap, Monday night league will now have a third division devoted to those who are in search of just walleyes, by the way it sounds the point system would be worked out so that they will be in the share of the total year prize. This division will start out the first 6 weeks just walleye and then the second 6 weeks a multi species format. This will allow for those of us that have family to be more involved and those who don't want to dedicate the whole summer away for the league and prefishing. Looks like we will be shotting for a total of 45 boats this year to be put in three divisions so that leaves room for some more anglers to get in. Also new this year we will be doing a full day tournament in September and sounds like it will be an invitational to other leagues as well. If you are interested please contact me at cheffi1(at)charter.net

Hey guys, I haven't been here much but I will try to keep up a bit more. I don't recall getting an email from QuickStrike for the MMTS site, but if he's a member I need to know when he signs up, so I can give his id more access. That was at the request of the dnr a couple years ago. But I think we will open up more of the site anyway. Soon..

I haven't heard anything on the trout and salmon sizes and information. Whatever the dnr sets as limits and sizes will be automatically reflected in our scoring, since that is rule #1.

We do work to keep the Monday night league fun. It seems to be working, since we have a lot of anglers and they come back with friends. We will be looking at do a non-profit corp this year to avoid liability in the case of someone hot rodding. Of course that is not what they are supposed to be doing and isn't right, but it is difficult to police. We will go over that also.

Well I am out here guys, send any questions or new teams my way. We won't have many openings, but we will have a few.

Oh I think the Northlander has too many sub dates already. How are we going to get out so you can teach me some more tricks?

Quickstrike can now get into the MMTS members section. Test it out.

On the new divisions, they are not all competing for the end of year prizes. The two Multi species groups are fishing 13 weeks and using their top ten as usual and are competing for the MMTS Title, trophies and prizes as per our meeting.

The walleye and big fish divisions only run 6 weeks each, starting with the walleye division, followed by the big fish division with Drew as the tournament director for them. They will have separate entries and prizes.

Sponsors could be worked on at one time, but the details of how to do that haven't been finished. They will have a separate competition committees one for the multi species groups and another smaller one for the other divisions made up of members from the respective groups.

There will be no championship, instead we will have a Duluth Invitational Multi species Tournament and all our members can fish it, as well as any members of the other leagues in town or someone referred to us from a sponsor. No need to advertise for that. It will be permitted and run on a Sunday, two weeks after our last night. This will be a total dollars back tournament and should have many boats. Prizes and plaques for the top multi species scores and for the top fish in each species. There could also be pots on the side. It should be awesome.

If you have any questions just email me or call me.

Hey Doug, smile.gif

Yeah, I was going by the WI regs for the the trout and salmon mainly because that is where I fished. There is some slight differences in what is legal to catch. I will check into it and email you when I get a chance.

Northlander, did you change your mind? Are you in the league or what?

If the Wisconsin regs are more restrictive, then we will change to reflect them. Just let me know. I know that the first rule of the league is that all state regulations supercede ours, so even if our league sizes reflect the Minnesota regs, if you fish on the Wisconsin side of the big lake, then you are required by the league rules to follow the Wisconsin regs, sizes and limits. Regardless how that makes your points add up.

Does that clear things up? I know that our regs have been reviewed by the DNR and are fine, just be sure to be in line with the laws of the state and water you are fishing.

Hey Northlander, you're welcome to fish with us anytime. Keep in touch.
