Hey Campers, Was wondering if anyone has stayed at either of these two campgrounds near Marcell? Is either better that the other? Is there a better site that another? Do they see alot of use? I have a 24 foot fifth wheel, would that be a problem manuvering? Any other comments? Thanks for the replies!

have visited both campgrounds numerous times in the fall while grouse hunting but have not stayed at either. Clubhouse wi heavier wooded and would have some sites that would fit. Also it is open later in the fall. I believe North Star was closed this fall. I believe both have a beach area. Northstar is a larger lake. Both are primarly panfish and northern lakes with some walleye in Northstar. Like the campground at Club better as Northstar has small trees. May have been logged at one time or lost to storms.

I have stayed at clubhouse a few times, it is very nice. Never stayed at northstar but I am told that is nice to. If you want a site close to the lake you may want to get ahold of the ranger station and reserve one, especially if its a buisy weekend like a holiday.

Northstar would be pretty tight for a rig of that size unless you get one close to the lakeshore. They are pretty well worn and open. Scenic is OK. Not a lot of privacy but the showers rock after a weeks camping.

You could find spots for your rig at both places. Clubhouse is a pretty popular campground and is a lot more scenic than north star, and is on a smaller lake. North Star is not as scenic as Clubhouse, but is less popular and is on a bigger lake. As far as fishing goes, both are good panfish and northern lakes, but I would lean towards NS for bass, walleye, and muskies.

A couple years back I stopped and checked out Clubhouse Lake Campground for a day trip in the fall. The drive from Grand Rapids was fantastic leaves on the trees had turned color and the deer were everywhere. We got to the campground and fished at the fishing dock it was pretty cold so we didn't fish to long. We were planning on cooking over a campfire so we gathered up some firewood and started the fire so we warmed up and had a great campfire cooked meal. I also remember the Norway Pines being just awesome with the wind blowing through the pines and the swimming beach looked pretty nice with the water being crystal clear. Well I'm hoping I'll get a chance to go back and camp at clubhouse this year. My wife and kids had a great time and we'd like to go and camp there the next time we get back that way.

I have stayed at both dozens of times. Clubhouse has sites you can reserve where Northstar does not. Clubhouse has the huge pines, Northstar was logged off years ago and the trees are just getting to the point where there is shade again. Clubhouse has a flat area to get to the lake and nice sandy shoreline to pull your boat up where Northstar has a very steep hill, but they now have stairs down to the lake, large rocks along the shore so it is very hard to leave the boat in over night without getting banged into the rocks when it is windy. Clubhouse can get very busy on weekends where Northstar is usually pretty quiet, at least later in the season. As far as fishing I would pick Northstar, we never did well on Clubhouse except for small sunnies and northern. I used to stay at Cluhouse because of the sand shoreline and huge pines but now go to Northstar just because it is less crowded. Depends what you want. Hope this helped!!!
