fish brothers tip up questions

I saw these tip ups on the fishing equipment site, and I am confused. It looks like these units come with 2 tip ups in one container, yet the price listed is for two tip ups for 30 bucks. So do I get one set of 2 tip ups, or do i get 2 sets of 2 tip ups for a total of 4 possible tip ups? thanks for the help and if anyone has used these let me know if they are worth the money, seems like a lot of money to me. I used to have a functioning frabil insulated and loved it, but I lost the flag somewhere in the move last spring.........

You will get 1 set of 2 tip ups. Well worth the money, I have put these to the test this year and I havn't broke one yet. They are and easy way to keep from getting tangles in your bucket. My favorite part of them is the black base keeps the hole from freezing.

I've been using the Fish Brothers Tip-ups and come to like them quite a bit. The bases snap together to make a self contained unit. Nice to keep the tangles from happening and everything is protected. The bases seem to work as far as keeping the hole ice free although I hadn't used them in sub zero weather yet. I know there was some concern about line freezing to the spool but that has not been an issue for me, I'm using mono as thats whats recommended and thats what I prefer to use anyway. I did make a minor alteration to mine by putting a backer nut to keep the screw form turning when I adjust the tension on the spool. I've also put bells on the spring the flag attachs to. The higher profile when setup gives better viability to passers by. I'll have to say I've noticed how folks go around your tip-ups when they can see them. 30 bucks for two tip-ups seems pretty reasonable to me. Since I jig my primary line, I always have a spare tip-up that gets borrowed out. Of coarse I don't tell them which one is theirs to us till after a flap pops up. smile.gif

I am basically sold, now I need to wait until payday (tomorrow) to pay for it. I know you do a lot of burntside fishing ST, do you have anyproblems with the mono freezing to the ice when you are pulling up the fish? do you use a heavier line 20-30 and then a leader of 6-10 pounds? what if a guy used a coated spectra line on the spool and a leader? Okay, I need to order a set......

what about 20 # fluro and then a 6# tippet section tied to a piece of dynamite and 30 second fuse........that's how the fishing has been down around the prior lake area lately. I think I am heading to Iowa in the next couple weeks to ice, I'll bring back some pictures of our trip down there

My current setup has 20lb. mono to a 8lb. leader. I prefer 8lb when the ice starts to get thicker because turning the fish up through the hole is more of a challenge.

Dynamite can work well this time of year but the fish do not fight as hard and they are a little hard to release after you catch them. LOL wink.gif
