Perm. Ice House or Boat??

Here's a question. If you had to choose between a perm. ice house or a fishing boat, what would you choose? It'll be a few years before I will be able to afford both.

You've got to figure that you'll only be able to use your permanent ice house from mid to late December through February. 2.5 (maybe 3) months on a season where we get good ice.

Boats will be used May through October. 6 months against 3 months. The permanent usage could be shorter and the boat usage could be longer if you don't mind the cold winds of November. Personally I'd go with the boat.

I'd go boat and a nice portable ice house. That way you can fish all the time and while the portable doesn't have the creature comforts of a perm it's still good to get out and they can be comfortable. I love firing up the heater in my portable and having a little peace and quiet (well, this weekend the peace and quiet wasn't that peaceful when the hose to my heater got too close and started on fire but after some quick thinking it was snuffed out)on the lake.

I work stupid long hours during boat season. I know, it's a serious flaw in my life letting work interfer with fishing. Winter is a little easier on my time, so for that reason I'd go ice house.

I love sitting in my fish house, but without a doubt, my boat is #1.

If you are like me- getting alittle older- I would go with a nice drop down fish house. I spend almost every weekend in mine- with all the comforts of home. No wind, no bugs, no humidity, etc. I spend way more time in the shack than in the boat

i'd go with leachlake on this one. get a nice portable then you can move around more too if you want. a nice boat would be my choice because of the fact you can use it more than a perm ice house. if you have a portable you have a longer period to fish in the winter too. just my two cents though.

I would go with the ice house, make it fast to move and move often, that way when its -20 out you can be warm and get away from it all!!!

Boat. If you're serious about fishing I'd think you'd want a good portable for icefishing anyway.
