TV BOY
How high is everyone blocking their houses with this warm weather? Mine is on 4x4's. Will I be ok, or should I run up and raise it or pull it off tonight?
0 Finlander
You'll be alright as long as someone does'nt drill a hole close to your house, or you drill a hole inside the house as this will cause the ice to flood. And it's no picknick walking around a flooded house trying to do anything there after! Whenever there is 8+ inches of new snow, I will move the house a little ways or to a new location knowing that you'll just flood your house out if you drill a hole without blocking up the house more than it was. It seems that you don't need to block it up as high after you move you house due to thicker ice. Ifinz you don't have a chisel, get one! permanent houses and chisels are like bread and butter. You gots to have one for chiseling the blocks, house runners, etc. that gets froze in the ice. Good Luck!
0 fishin magician
Always always block up your house. Trust me if you do not get it off the ice you will be swearing up a storm when trying o remove it. This year houses are not getting froze in but as you know the weather in Minnesota changes quickly. 0 Ishmel
I went out to block my house up tonight. The snow was definitly more compact and heavier, but no water on the bottom side yet. When I put the house out I put it up about 3.5 inches, so I just added a piece of 2x4 and made it 5 inches. From the looks of it that should be enough, but I suppose it depends on just how warm it gets and for how long.

0 Ed Carlson
If you can, raise it and leave it up tell you need it, safer that way. If it is on wheels block the wheels so they do not freeze in. Then on your next trip out as you know how much water will pop up after drilling a hole, block it up acordingly. Higher then you need is WAY better then not high enough. I had a 8 by 12 ice-in once and then the whole area flooded. It took a whole day in -20 winds with me in hip boots and a Hi-Lift jack and a chipper bar to get it loose and up...Nooooo fun at all. 0 Ishmel
Cotfish - I'm on Kramer. This is only my second year fishing it, but I'm not sure I'll go back. The fishing just hasn't been good. I assumed since I was marking them down there I could get them to bite if I just found the right combination but so far I haven't found it.How about you?
