Chad711
Does anyone else have the Lakemaster Promap Series (Gold) Software? It is without a doubt the best thing out there as far as a map goes. Maybe Im just finally realizing it and you all know. I didnt realize they were this good. Drag your cursor to a spot on the lake, bam get the gps cords'. This (Hopefully) will get us a fish or 2 in the Gull Lake event this weekend! I talked to the programmers today too, they are planning on doing full high def maps on more lakes soon, like Bemidji. It has 200 other lakes, like Bemidji same deal but he said they are not "As" accurate as the other 58 they have done. Highly recommend this program! Jeremy airjer W
I've been using mine for 3 years now. I'm upgrading to the promaps soon. IT'S ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!
computerboy
I have the ProMap series and it is a very powerful tool, especially for a novice like me. You can pull up a lake in 3' contours, zoom in on a structure, and get precise GPS coordinates. In fact, I used it for a trip out to Forest Lake two weeks ago and managed to hoist a few eyes off a point I marked. Prior to that outing, I had only gone ice fishing with people that know what they were doing and only on their "home lakes". This was the first time I had ever taken someone else out, and the first time I ever fished on Forest. I highly doubt I would have put us on fish without this software. While the interface could use a serious update, the information it provides is well worth the price of admission. Gess
I have just the basic one and I love it. Its nice I can go out and load my GPS cordinates to it. Mine is only the 5' contours but its nice I can get the just of a lake and I can pull up the dnr info with a touch of a button. Im getting the promap of Winni but the basic version did a great job for last winter we tried a few differnt spots that caught us fish and no one around us. So I would say its a good deal. I think I aid like 30.00 last winter and got mine at Gander Moutain.
fishing 101
Can these go into the Lawrance H2O?
computerboy
You cannot load the actual maps into your GPS unit from the CD. The LakeMaster PC mapping software is designed to be installed on your computer. You can transfer waypoint data between your computer and GPS, and print your own high-def maps. There is also a real-time tracking feature that allows you to hook your GPS up to your laptop and use it as a chart plotter. You'll have to check with LakeMaster to see if the iFinder is compatible with the PC mapping software, but I’m pretty sure it is.If you want the actual contour maps loaded on your iFinder, you’ll need a map chip. computerboy
Come to think of it 101, I seem to remember reading a post that the iFinder doesn't have a direct PC interface? If that is the case, you probably won't be able to transfer waypoint data between your GPS and the LakeMaster PC mapping software. Following up on what Rick posted.... LakeMaster offers two different formats of their contour maps:- Digital GPS maps - PC mapping software The Digital GPS maps come on data cards or MapSource CD for use with compatible Lowrance and Garmin units. The contour maps are loaded directly on to your GPS from the data card or MapSource CD. As you navigate, your position will display over the contours of the lake in real-time on the GPS screen. The PC mapping software is installed on your PC and used for waypoint transfers to a compatible GPS. You cannot load the actual maps to any GPS with the PC mapping software. However, you can connect your GPS to a laptop that has the mapping software installed and enable the GPS tracking feature. With tracking enabled, your position will display over the contours of the lake in real-time on the laptop screen. Hope that helps.

we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Rick Posted January 22, 2005 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted January 22, 2005 Computerboy is not completely accurate. The data cards only work with Garmin. The Navionics MMC chips have the maps and do work with compatible Lowrance units. You can see what is available with them by clicking here,
computerboy
Thanks for the clarification Rick, and I apologize if I confused anyone on my last post. Yes, the Garmin data card and MapSource CD are only compatible with Garmin units. The MMC chips are only compatible with Lowrance units. The main thing I was trying to illustrate was the difference between the digital maps vs. the mapping software that LakeMaster offers. To be honest, I stayed away from this product for a long time because I didn’t really understand how it worked. Call it the intimidation factor I guess. I was just missing that one critical piece of information. Once I understood the difference between the digital maps and the mapping software (and what each format had to offer), I was immediately sold on the product.
