wildfan
I just got some money for my birthday and I was wondering if anyone has the aqua-vu scout, and if so do you like it or do u wish you never bought it. Thanks
Deitz Dittrich
So far everything I have heard about the scout has been very good... Well worth the price they have on it! I got to use one this summer and was ultra impressed!
Ed Carlson
They sold VERY well this year and I have seen only one returned. That one had a damaged monitor? I think they could not get a fish to bite and went nuts on the monitor to vent. Kinda like throwing stuff at the TV when football in on I guess? So far the feedback has been very good, folks love them. It is a great package as I see it. You have options in that unit the next units up the scale do not have. It is shy of one feature I like but I could live without that at the price the Scout is offered at.

YakHead
I have the scout and have enjoyed it very much. The camera works very well clear water during the day. I have found that using it at night is not the greatest, but knew that when i bought it. The camera is a neat tool, but is very frusterating when you see them all and they do not bite. A couple of weeks ago watch about a 100 crappies just swim around the bait for about 2 hours. But it did pass the time well. Enjoy

fishermn
Just got mine out for the first time today, and I must agree it is a pretty good buy for the price. Could see really well in the clear water lake I was fishing, unfortunately, the only fish I was seeing were wee little perch As the other posts mention it works great with full daylight, but as the light starts to get low, it gets tough to see. The downview mode worked well right up til dark tho!
eurolarva
I have fished with mine now twice. It really adds a lot to the fishing experience. I mainly fish for sunfish and what I noticed is the bigger sunfish will get the lure and the bait in their mouth and the bobber never moves. Also the smaller fish will attack the bait multiple times when trying to set the hook where the bigger ones spook easy. I never would have known this without seeing it with the Scout. Benson
The scout is a nice added feature to your ice fishing experiences especially in clear water. A good rule for the camera is that if you can see six feet down it can see twelve. I just recently bought a scout with my b-day money on 1/16/05. I used it the next day and loved it, it is a little tricky setting it in the right position though without a ice-pod, but I managed. I heard a lot of bad reviews on cameras but I loved it have fun. Ed Carlson
If you do not have a Tri-Pod here is a tip to make one on the cheap. Use a Pop-Up style tip-up or a T-Bar Tip-up as a make shift Tri-Pod.You run the camera cable along the stem of the tip-up and either use the T-bar to turn the camera or twist the cable slowly by hand. Attach the cable with rubber bands or those heavy sheep bands used on bait bags. If you wish to hang the unit at a certain depth for side or down view this will get you by,just slide the cable up or down as needed. Be carefully not to crimp the cable. Zip ties will get too tight and you may cause stress on the cable when trying to adjust it, stick with a rubber snubber of some type. It does not need to be very tight. Loose is better, you can even use a clothing line clip as a stop to set the depth.Tinker with it and you will get the idea.
sidecar pan fishin man
Funny story......We were fishing in winona a few weeks ago and I dropped the tripod down the hole...oooooppps. Worst thing was I could see the tripod on the bottom with the aqua view. I tried for a while to snag it with a large river jig but gave up. I used the box from a case of diet pepsi we had with us, put a slot into it for the wire and it worked great. Luckily I had an extra tripod at home. cory
wished i had never bought it. it looked good in the store for the money but on the ice a different story. if u don't have the ice and snow perfectly flat the big oversized box for a monitor wants to tip over. if i opened a window in my hut i couldn't see anything on the screen. the material for the sun shade is too floppy and blocks your view. the battery only lasts 4 hours(what a joke). i took it back and got the zt 120. i love it. like comparing a stripped sunfire to a loaded grand prix.cory friesen
