That was fun to watch... Not sure if I have a fave segment yet.. but I have gained some information!... sure does make me wish we had some dang shad at times.. LOL

For those who watch they are always talking about how bass move with the shad.. well here in MN we dont have shad except in the mississippie river in southern MN... However, our northern strain bass will follow the small bluegills much the same.. so take ay adivse on those shows.. and everytime you hear the word "SHAD' replace with"BLUEGILL!"

it was interesting. we have some shad here ( i think mostly gizzard) i class all small fish as baitfish. the kind/type depends on the body of water. many times it may be tiny gils, crappies, or bass. i've even seen them feed on baby bullheads. ( good for them !) a bait pattern is a must know. this can give one a start. then you take into account the other variables. i liked the one where the guy was swimming a light colored tube ( texas rigged ) in and thru brush and trees. i may have to give that a try this year.

I was watching other shows when bass center went off. Was fun to watch Midwest Outdoors, Angling Edge, Babe Winkleman, Simply Fishing, Kent Hrbek Outdoors. I missed Tony Dean and Capra's. Everytime one show went off I surfed and found another. What a way to spend a sub zero day indoors. smile.gif

I like the bass university and schooled with denny brauer, they give some good info. The others are also enjoyable to watch to. I always like watchin the tournaments and studying how the pros fish. Can't wait to get back on the water. So i suppose everything is good, heck its bass fishin on tv.

I agree that Bass University & Schooled with Denny Brauer are some good shows that give me some new ideas for fishing. I also like Linder's Fishing Edge as they seem more education based rather than just trying to look good by catching a fish or two and talking about their sponsors (I know that it's a tight line to walk).

I guess that I've grown a little frustrated with some of the shows that have gotten away from being an education based program (Roland Martin & Hank Parker) and have become more of a "cute" show based on hooking a few fish, telling some jokes, & plugging their sponsors. I've always noticed that Al Linder, Bill Dance, & Denny Brauer seem to enjoy trying to educate their viewers on new patterns, techniques, & presentations to get bass to the boat.

Getting the shakes to pitch a jig into the weeds,

You gotta like Bill Dance where else can you have the oppertunity to watch someone fall in the water or knock a camera man in the water! I also like Strike King pro journal (even though all they do is plug Strike King products) but they do try to educate anglers edge is still probably the best for education imo

i love them. first they are great entertainment when i can't be out doing the real thing. and once in a while i do pick up a tip . instance; i learned from the joe bucher(sp) show last year about how to prevent the rear treble hook from tangling on an awaker(muskie) lure. sat he showed a proto type spinner baits he has been working on. ( he flattened the head some to help keep the lure a little higher in the water for above weeds). and also he talked about having a shorter arm on the blades to exspose the hook more and not needing a trailer hook that way. opinion? yes ! but interesting. del

I have to agree Flip. I happen to run into Hank Parker's show last night and all he did was show a fishing trip with his nephew smallie fishing. I like Lindner's show too. At least he tries to educate. I like the shows that have more education than just showing a fishing trip. We all know what it's like to be somewhere fishing. Showing new ideas, lures, and different fishing techniques is what helps fishing grow.

Anybody ever watch Angler on Tour and Classic Patterns. Both shows run on The Outdoor Channel. Angler on Tour follows Joe Thomas while prefishing for the BASS tour and opens. Classic Patterns has a large prostaff of touring pros that showcases a different pattern or technique every week. I just got rid of my digital cable box because of the continuing price increases and am having withdrawal symptoms already from missing these two shows.
