I'm from new york so I can't get to this presentation, Maybe Matt could load up a copy of his presentation and put it on this site so we could all enjoy reading about the tips. Maybe a good spot to do a question and answer for matt as well. Chief

Chief,

I'll try and put something together and put it up here on the site for you to check out. We are going to try and video tape the seminar, but either way I'll put up some info for you to read, kind of an outline of what I covered. That way you can feel free to ask any questions right here if you want. Glad to see we have some loyal FMer's from New York on the site, thats awesome! smile.gif

Good Fishin,

Matt Johnson

You'll do well Matt... My first ice fishing seminar was to a local Trout Unlimited club looking to find an alternative to the winter doldrums. It wen't very well and I have done quite a few LX-3 demos after that. The most enjoyable part is the question and answer period.

Thank you for the informant information. It sure was a lot to take in for 1 1/2 hour. It made me want to go out fishing right afterwards, but I knew I really can't since 5.00 a.m. comes early for work. Will try out some of the techniques that you mentioned.

Thank you again Matt, And also for all your knowledge of crappies and jigs a special thanks goes out to crappietom.

Thankfully my night class was let out early tonight, because I got a chance to get to the seminar (only about ten minutes late wink.gif). I learned some new approaches to getting picky fish to seal the deal.

I would like to thank the crew for coming down to Mankato and congratulate Matt and Tom for putting on a wonderful presentation...Good Job!

I didn’t have time to stick around for the Q & A session but there was one question I still had at the end. So far the only time I have ever caught numbers of crappies has been at the low light periods with minnows. I have set out just a couple times this winter in search of them during the day with little success. I know to go small and do without the minnow but what else is there. Obviously certain lakes have better daylight bites than others, but is it there a particular forage or bottom content to look for when scouting lakes that may suggest a better bite?
