thordoggydog
Those of you who own a fish trap yukon. How much gear do you fit in yours? I have 2 fish finders, aqua view camera, gas auger, 2 rod bags.... Am I going to be able to fit all that stuff?
rodbuilder
I picked up a Yukon about a month ago. I don't have near as much dump..err uhh...stuff as you, but I think you'll have the room. On mine, before the ice was driveable and I had to walk everything out, I had 5 rods, a vex, lantern with 1 lb. cylinder, sunflower with 20 lb. tank, Jiffy auger, and a 5 gallon minnow bucket and an ice dipper. Seemed to be enough room, but I wouldn't want to drag it any further than I had to. If your pulling by hand (without an ATV), you'll soon figure out that there are definately things you can live without on the ice. That extra weight will wear a guy out in a hurry. I really like mine thus far. Don't imagine I'll ever go back to a suitcase style portable.Good luck!
picksbigwagon
I am in the market to buy one of these yukons if I can find one and I can sell my 6800, and I have question, how much weight do these thing handle in the seating department...I am over 250 and the guy I fish with isn't that far behind me, will this unit hold together or creak and groan under the near quarter tonage placed on the frame of the sled? Matt Breuer
picksbig, I think you're safe. The construction of the seats in the Yukons are very sturdy! As for gear, I fit it all. The key is to put it all in before you flip 'er over. I have trouble getting everything in if it's collapsed.
thordoggydog
Matt -Do you pull yours by hand with all your gear in it? When you say collapsed, what do you mean?
Duffer
i pull mine by hand it has all my gear in it including an 13 pound propain tank. i would sugest a runner or hyfax kit for it makes it much easyer to pull.
folke2000
Picksbigwagon - A friend has a FT Voyager, and I've seen him (260 lbs) and a friend (lets just say over 350) with no problems....
Matt Breuer
thor... I can pull it by hand with all of my gear in it. I usually pull it behind the wheeler or right off the bed of the truck though. I have the hyfax kit and it pulls great!By collapsed I mean poles broke down, and everything laid down in tub. Not set-up fishing ready.
anyfishwilldo
The Yukons are very tough. I have one, and my buddy also has one. We were heading out fishing on Sat, and his decided to jump out of the box of the truck at 55mph. The only damage was some minor road rash on the top of the canvas, and one of the seat hinges broke. Pretty lucky. I carry a heater/cooker, 20# gas, lazer auger, 2 vex, marcum camera, 2 rod bags, shovel, and a 5 qt minnow bucket. They really hold a lot of stuff. My only knock on the house, is the zippers, but Clam is good about taking care of any problems.
