Interference between LX 3 and FL 8

Hello All

My buddy just got a LX 3 and I have an FL 8. We were sitting in the same Ice (8x8) house, he has a control to eliminate my sonar on his flasher, however his LX 3 clutters up my FL 8. Anyway around this, other than moving further apart?

Pretty tough to do if you have the early version of the Fl-8 which didn't have I.R. You can try lowering your transcducer in the hole lower than his. Soemtimes that will help to cut out the interference

Goldeye, if your Fl-8 has a IR button (interference rejection) you and your buddy will have to use it to get around the interference. I used an LX-3 in an 8x10 house this weekend 5ft away from an Fl-8 and neither of us had any problems. If there are more than one LX-3 close by, you might have problems. If you have an older model FL-8 that dosent have IR your going to have to get farther apart or upgrade to a newer model.

I have the same problem with one of my buddy's. We never were able to eliminate the interference but we were able to reduce it by tinkering with his unit.

I fish my LX3 within four feet of my buddies FL8SE. I assume that FL8 does not have IR. If your FL8 is an SLT not an SE you may be SOL.

Thanks everybody. I have an older FL 8 without IR. So I guess this justifies it I either have to get a newer unit, or tell my buddy he can no longer fish with me. Now, what to get an FL 18 or a LX 3. Hummmm!

Goldeye I think you know what most of us will say about you quandary that you have now. If you vex is that old it must be time for a new one right ? Personally I have a LX 3 after having a FL 8SLT for a number of years. It was a tough decision to give up the Vex but not one that I have ever regretted. 2 of my buddies still use the FL 8SLT and we have fished together with all 3 and always been able to control the interference.

I had an LX-3 right next to my old Hondex FL-8 and the IR on the LX-3 tuned out all the interference, completely. The FL-8 worked perfect and it does not have IR. Try tuning only the LX-3??

Buy an LX-3 and you won't have to worry about it, sorry I couldn't resist that one.
