Kylersk
I havnt had a chance to go out in the mornings yet this year.. so My only experience has been in the evening. I'm finding the bit is usually best right around sundown and shortly after. What are your favorite times to hit the ice?

Deitz Dittrich
Its really going to depend on the lake... Most of your darker water lakes, the bite is best during the daylight hours.. Just ask anybody up on Lake of the Woods.. Them fish are really hard to catch at night, your better off fishing at 12 noon... However, in many clear water lakes, lowlight are best. Anytime you are within an hour of either sunset or sunrise can be very good! Heavy cloud cover can extend this time by quite a bit... Good luck out there. Matt Johnson
I'm with Deitz, depends on the lake. Clearer lakes will experience a good twilight bite (sundown/sunrise) and darker (stained) lakes will produce throughout the day. Now, clear lakes can and will produce during the day, but darker waters a more likely to be hot midday lakes. Darker lakes can also be good during twilight periods as well.I find that the hour before sundown can be some of the best fishing, same with the first hour after the sunrises. That transition triggers some fish to feed and you can experience some excellent action. That's part of the reason why on cloudy days you will experience some phenomenal fishing the whole day, which is due to the fact that the fish think it's the twilight period during midday. A lot more factors can go into play, but I would say the hour before sundown and the hour after sunrise are the two most consistent periods...Good Fishin,Matt Johnson
