I pretty much stick with minnows for the Walleyes and I have never had too much luck with the waxies for anything(not a big panfisher kinda guy).

deffinetly minnows, and if you want to try a little trick that i use when i get bored or fishing is slow a minnow head with a couple waxies kinda the best of both worlds, might catch a monster ya never know

For walleyes I'd use minnows. Sometimes when the crappies are bitting fast and furious I like using a waxy on a small pimple. The reason why is you can usually catch many fish without having to rebait.

Do both. Get a half dozen shiners. I prefer eurolarva over waxworms. They stay on the hooks better and are smaller. Put two or three on a hook. You have to rebait less often. I catch lots of sunfish and even some crappies with these. If you only want one bait use crappie minnows. Walleyes will also attack these.
