Tom Linderholm
After reading multiple posts in comparing Marcum vs. Vexilar I decided to share my recent encounter with the Vexilar guys. This summer my dog chewed my float up so I went in search of a new on last week, after stopping at Gander then Marine General at one of my stops I was informed that they do not ship them out to stores because of problems with them being used on other machines. I decided to write the company direct and let them know my disgust & frustration at getting a simple float and having to pay $5.00 shipping after spending an hour driving around trying to find one. While I was on the HSOforum I picked up a couple extra items for my vex in my order to justify the shipping. Low and behold a package arrived from vexilar in two days with a letter explaining that they would pick up the bill on everything. while digging out the gear out of the package I noticed they sent me two floats. One for my vex and one saying "For Your Dog". Since I work in a Customer Service industry I was floored by the attention recieved by these guys. THANK YOU! Lundman
Thanks for sharing! It's customer service like that, that keep people buying their products. Wouldn't it be nice if all companies were that way? Thanks again!
klbowe
I got a chuckle out of this post because just yesterdayI was at the bait shop in Madison Lake MN and was thinking about buying the Vexilar float to use on my Marcum. So yes they do sell replacement floats for Vexilar made by Vexilar. They sell for $3.50 as I recall. And YES I probably will buy one for my Marcum. It is the one feature my old Vexilar FL8 had that I really miss. I have seen Marcum cables freeze to the side of a hole and have to be replaced. hanson
Cheffrey- That is outstanding!! I tell you what, competition between the two right now is forcing them to have outstanding customer service!! I think it is a win/win situation for both Marcum & Vex owners. About the Marcum cable freezing to the side of your hole... you have to be sitting in one spot for an awefully long time!! The Marcum transducer support arm is identical to the one I had on my Zercom Colorpoint. I've used the Zercom for about 4-5 years now and have never once had it freeze into the side of the hole. It has come close a few times but it has never happened.
BradB
Vexilar has always had outstanding customer service. I've dealt with them going back 8 or 9 years and they have always been top notch. I've dealt with other companies in this market and Vexilar has been far and away the best.
Tom Linderholm
Like you said Hanson, A little pressure never hurt anyone. If you go into two restaurants with equally good food & pricing. One has outstanding service and the other has good. Which one will you return too? SCHAAKATTACK
I have always heard great things and that is what influenced my decision and the fact that they are near by if I were to ever have a problem. One thing I am curious about is why you can't buy that part in a store? If you can buy it online couldn't you buy it for another brand? How would they know? wouldn't the extra sales be a good thing for them?
Tom Linderholm
The store that I talked with said they used to have them but have had a hard time because of the reasoning above. I am unsure if it is true or just B.S.. The fact of the matter is that they solved the problem no questions asked.
