walleye_jigger
I was wondering if anybody has found a resonable place to get or a way to make cushions for a bench or bunk in the fish house?
Piker
Mac's Hardware, I think there's one in DL. That's where I got my materials (foam, vinyl, etc)
FZ
What type of board is commonly used for a bunk?
hanson
I'm building my bunks this weekend. I'm using 2x2s to make a frame and then probably 1/2" plywood on top. While untested, I'm sure this will be sufficient. There will also be 2x2 cleats on the walls, fastened securely back to the studs, for the bunks to rest on when they fold down. waterwolff
I read a post not to long ago about going to a home improvement store and getting a hollow core door and using it as a bed support finished on both sides and relatively lite
Ed Carlson
The shack bench I liked was mostly made from Styrofoam and had a layer of carpet padding then vinyl on top. What I liked was it was very warm to sit and lay on. A bit stiff/firm for a mattress, yet I like a firm cot to crash on. The styro reflects heat well and is cheap and lightweight. Tahoe2349
I have in the past made bunks from supplies at the fabric store.. Make a frame and board it.. get the desired foam thickness and density desired, buy the fabric and stretch it over the foam and staple to the board !!Also have had two "Twin Size" beds custom made at a Auto Uphlosterer before. Brought in the two frames and he foamed and fabriced them for $200..was a rougher canvas type material..nothing expensive !!
iffwalleyes
Fish house supply dot com is where I found mine. They have a few options you can choose from. Probably not the cheapest but they were the easiest because I didn't have to make anything. I got 2 of their 24" X 72". one for the back rest and one for the seat.
