ice_junky
I have just purchased a permenant house and was wondering about what type of battery i should get. Does anyone use a gell cell? Well hope to be on the ice soon and with some power in my house. Thanks JIM
Skeets
Assuming you need a battery for your lighting system, use a deep cycle marine battery.Keep it charged, especially in the winter cold.Otherwise you won't be happy with the results. ice_junky
I also need to keep my furnace running with this battery. I forgot to include that in the post.
Walleye Guy
Use a deep cycle marine battery. If you don't have one buy a Trojan. Best battery I have owned.Good luckWG
Dogzlife000
I use 2 Trojan 6 volt golf cart batteries in series. These batteries have very thick plates and are capable of taking repeated deep discharges without degrading. Each costs about the same as a 12 volt deep cycle battery but they have more capacity. (2 trojan = ~220 amp hrs while 2 12 volt group 24 deep cycle batteries = ~160 amp hrs) Unfortunately, they are quite a bit heavier (60# each) so this could be an issue if you need to drag them in and out of the house each trip to charge. Surface Tension
Forced air heaters are dead in the water without juice. You'll want two batteries if you plan on any weekend trips. Get yourself two 115 Amp hr deep cycle batteries. That'll give you 230 Amp hrs. Somewhere in the heaters literature it'll tell you the Amp draw, that'll give you an idea on how long a battery will last. These nice big deep cells will be exactly what you need on the water next summer too.
