blaze orange in bowhuntin only areas??

Recommended Posts

I would wear the orange on the way in and out, just to be safe. Do you have a treestand or are you standing on ground? My experience a couple of weekends ago makes me want to wear orange all the time.. There is some pretty stupid people out there.... To make a long story short, drunk kids and a vehicle with a gun out the window....

Good Luck

I am hunting in an archery only area and had that very same question. Called my local DNR officer and he said blaze orange was not required.

If you're passing through or near an area were gun hunting is allowed, you might want to wear an orange hat then stuff it in your pocket when on stand. Never under-estimate the stupidity of another.

Over the muzzleloader season, I am planning on bowhunting some public land that is only open to bowhunters. Do I still need to wear blaze orange even though it is only bowhunters in the area?

I know people were bowhunting this same area over the firearms season and they didn't wear blaze, but none of them seemed really sure if they had to or not.

Hammer' em.

Pushed some deer out of the area on Turkey-day morning walking to my stand (5:45 AM). From the looks of the tracks it was 2 does, a fawn and appears to have been a nice buck following them from a distance.

Bagged a small buck Friday morning. Seen total of 6. four does, two bucks.

If you get away from the other hunters and set up before they do, the deer are there. I think it helps when they all push the deer to you in the morning walking to their stands smile.gif Never seen anything in the evening. Only mornings. I stayed out of there over the weekend. But may try and get in there next week again to get my doe if I don't get one this next weekend on the private land that I hunt. Staying out now to let my body recover from draggin the buck out over a mile on Friday and processing it yesterday smile.gif Sure wish there would have been a six pack chilled in my truck after that one.
