Zippo Outdoor Handwarmer...

I had the chance to tinker with the new Zippo Outdoor Handwarmer set (http://www.zippo.com/product.aspx?id=1025960&cid=1240), and I am really impressed. I am one of those guys who is constantly complaining about cold hands, but I rely so much on feel that I hate wearing gloves. Solution? The Zippo Handwarmer in my Ice Armor hand muffs or pockets. I am uber-excited to use this product in the dead of winter to see how it holds up. If it's anything like it was the other day duck hunting in the wind, I'll be one happy camper!

I love mine too. I now have had a chance to use it 2 times and let's just say it gives off a good amount of heat once it's warmed up. I am even thinking of buying a second one so I can have one for each pocket.

I have been using mine and sharing them with my friends. Everyone that has used them is very impressed with the heat and the length of time they last. We have been fishing in temps of 15 degrees at first light for salmon. Hands are getting wet and slimy, the Zippo's are keeping us fishing when the bite is hot.

So, basically it's a fire in your pocket! Do they ever go out because of a lack of Oxygen? confused

it's not a fire. you fill the warmer with a set amount of lighter fluid and then put the heating element over that and apply heat(flame from a lighter) to that. once the element is warm enough it will start to draw the fluid to it and burns it off as a reaction which creates the heat. when you put the full amount of fluid in it the run time is about 10 to 12 hours. you do need to leave it exposed to oxygen while it is warming up, once at operating temp you can put it in the supplied cloth bag and it continues to work inside the bag. these are well worth the cost of them.

Come on now Brad. I didn't take a lot of physics in school, but "it's not fire" and "flame from a lighter" sure doesn't seem to go together! grin Don't get me wrong this post has me thinking! wink

My wife bought me last Christmas something similar to the zippo. Its a little thing that sits in your palm.Operated by batteries. The thing got pretty hot sometimes.I wonder how this Zippo compares to it.Its pretty cool that Zippo came out with this.Maybe this will be on my list this coming holidays.

Are there any issues with them leaking fuel? I had a jon-e hand warmer years ago. It would leak fuel in my pocket which irritated (burned) my skin and left my hands smelling like lighter fluid. Not a good combination if you're handling sensitive plastics I would think.

I used one opening weekend of deer season. Lit it at 6:00 as I left the house, it was still warm at 6:00 when I got home! No smell, no leaked fuel...nothing but warmth! I do want to pick up a second one, so I have one for each hand....but well worth it in my book!
