Wrist Slings

I was wondering what your guy thoughts are on wrist slings. I have never used one in the past and I shoot just fine and have never had my bow jump out of my hand. However my new bow came with one. It is a soft cloth type that I have to fumble on when shooting. I will either replace it with a stiffer braided type or leave it off all together. I usually hunt late into the season so will have on thicker gear, gloves... Any pros to having one that I am not thinking of besides adding some cool colors to my bow

For me it's great to shoot with open grip and no worries it will jump out of my hand. I do not squeeze the grip shoot more relaxed. At least for me.

I started out without a wrist sling and shot fine.  I had a sling in my case and one day decided to use it and noticed a difference.  I was able to shoot with a more open hand and relaxed grip.  I felt like my pin float was reduced and easier to manipulate my point of aim when my hand was open and more relaxed.

I will always have one on my bow.  I hold with an open grip also to lessen the twist I might induce with a closed grip.

 

I’ve also noticed a difference in where I’m letting the pressure balance within my open grip.  My shots fly a little different if the pressure is mainly between my thumb and forefinger or balanced across my whole palm.

 

Clean follow through allows the bow to start to drop forward, not necessarily “jump” out of your hand.

As stated for the above reasons....I totally agree.  I can tell you this much, I also hunt late into the season if I am not tagged out, and I loosen my sling more so my thick gloves will slide through it and I can grip my bow.  I have always shot with one, so i can't speak to shooting without one.  I get a piece of mind having it that I can relax my grip and now worry about the bow "jumping" out of my hand,
