eyeguy 54
LOL. the trilene will always be betwixt my fingers. why change something that works so good? 36 minutes ago, delcecchi said: Uh, run it through, fold line over, run it through again in other direction. Doesn't trilene knot have you run it through twice? same direction, I would get confused trying to go one way, then the other... swamptiger
I use a "swampyized" version of the palomar knot. Get a loop of double line through the eye (in whatever fashion tickles your fancy), do a simple overhand knot, and run the free end of the line through the loop before tightening everything up. Works for me.. Edited January 7, 2017 by swamptiger
Jim Uran
This is the same knot I tie on eveything except if I'm using superlines. The only reason it would break on this knot would be if it was too old or if it was too weak.
Surface Tension
You could have a burr on the eye of the hook or like said your line is rotted. Trilene knot is better for holding your jig vertical and IMO that double loop distributes the pinch at the eye and is a stronger knot. The Clinch knot different by using one loop through the eye but ends the knot by passing though the loop. Unless your knot is slipping I wouldn't pass though the loop on that last step. Or better yet use the Trilene and and and extra wrap to stop any slip. Palomar is a good knot and I believe it to be a better knot but not as easy to untie compared to a Trilene where you can put it loose with a finger nail. If it were a braid palomar every time. Bare hook I use a snell. gunner55
rundrave
so getting the line wet seemed to be the difference maker. held up to some gill action yesterday anyway.
