Any out there still shooting a 16? me and my dad both shoot remington 1100 16's what a sweet gun, low recoil, quick pointing and plenty of power, why they fell out of style i dont know. Glad to see Remington is making them again, but the price tag on the wood stock is up there, maybe next year.

my wife has a Winchester model 12, 16 gauge she loves it. I haven't shot it yet but she says it's not that bad. Were can I go and shoot it?

I grew up shooting my dads 16 gauge Remington 870, it was a nice gun. Shot my first deer with it too!

I still shoot a 16 ga, its a old one, was my grandpas, then my dads, and now mine, love it to death, have used it every year since my first pheasant season, but its getting harder to find shells for it, not as cheap like the 12ga and 20ga shells either

I used to hunt pheasants and ducks with an old L.C. Smith 16 ga. double my dad owned. What a sweet gun. My brother has it now. Took my first goose with it. I own 3 16's now but they are all older and I'd be a little worried taking them into the field. I'd hate to damage them. I'd love to get a new Remington but finding steel shot for them is a pain. Still my favorite gun, though. More punch than a 20 and close to a 12 with less heft.

I have a Stoeger side by side in 16 ga. Very nice gun for the price I paid. It's not a show piece, but that makes me more likely to use it for what it was meant for.

I never had a problem finding steel shot for my 16 for waterfowl & pheasant loads. But I bought early in the season last year thinking it would sell out since it's not stocked in the same quantities as 12.

I'd love to use the gun for the dove season this year but I think that finding steel shot in that size will be a problem.

Where do you find steel shot for the 16's i cant seem to find any ever and i would like to use it this year when i float the river for ducks.

Fleet Farm & Gander Mountain both had 16 ga steel shot last year. I'm pretty sure I saw some at the big store in Owtonna too.4d

Have my grandad's early 60's (late 50's?) 16 ga. 870 w/ the old Polychoke (DIAL-A-DEATH)and it's still a great gun - I just don't want to wreck up my "heirloom" too much any more! Great pheasant/dove gun growing up in PA and have done tons of duckhunting w/ it as well - that's why it was getting so "worn". So I bought a new 870 12ga. w/ the synthetic stock but it's not nearly as nice to hunt w/ as the old Wingmaster. The kick when shooting all day at - say doves as we grew up shooting in PA - doesn't quite wear on you as bad as the 12 ga. and a 16 ga. packs alot more pellets than a lil 20 ga. Just plain lighter to carry around than a 12 ga. too.
Tho buying shells - especially steel - for them isn't QUITE as easy as a 12 ga., you'll find 'em in most sports shops. Just not necessarily boxes of steel #2's at your local Holiday, there's still plenty available. Great gun - I'll take mine out dove hunting this year 'cause it won't be so hard hunting (vs. duck hunting) on the gun or me!
