Boots ?

What boots do you guys prefer? With all the products out there, selecting one can be a challenge. There is a boot for every situation, and they can be very different. I can't afford to buy 6 pairs, so I buoght some low end Irish Setters. I havent had the opertunity to hunt in them yet so Ill have to hit the gamefarm, ha ha. Just seeing what others think. Danner uninsulated gore-tex with the round toe (not the boxed toe), leather with cordura sides. Boxed toes a good but the seam on the boxed toe seems to wear down quite quicker as compared to the round toe. You can get the airbob tread or a less agressive tread. These are available from many different stores under different names (Cabelas, Gander, Joe's, etc...). They are tough, waterproof, and light. For colder bird hunting just put some insulated socks on (I prefer Thorlo's) and make sure your boots aren't too tight. As long as your moving, your feet shouldn't get cold. This is all I ever use for bird hunting and I'm very pleased with the quality of the Danner's.

Rocky boots. Good comfortable boot for the $$. Make sure they have the Gore Tex. I have several pair, one uninsulated for early season and several with insulation for later on.

I used to be a huge Danner fan but their product has gone down hill the last 3-4 years. I had a pair I bought about 6 years ago that I really liked and I wanted to get a new pair this last year and I couldn't find a pair I thought were even close in quality to the ones I had.

I ended up getting the Irish Setters. They were really expensive. I think they were over $200. I am really impressed with the Irish Setters, at least the high end ones.

I bought a pair of Lacrosse Gamemasters this fall and my feet are still thanking me.

Cabelas Guide Series, goretex, great leather, vibrams, 200-1000g of thinsulate, mostly gets matted down after a hard hunt, so it reverts back to uninsulated conditions. Have had 2 pairs for 5 years, best boots ever, would not buy another pair of Red Wings if my life depended on it.

gspman is right on the money. Danner is the only boot that I will buy. I have two pairs, one pair is six years old and still in great shape.
