randerson
So I sold my FL18 and got a Ice 55 this year from Reeds at the IceShow and only had a chance to use it a half dozen times but i feel that the transducer is not working as well as I expected. I have been fishing in 18-28' with a VMC spoon 1/8 oz I believe and I have to turn the gain up to 30+ to see it. Last weekend I was fishing by someone with a ice 45 and he had a nice clear screen while I was getting a ton of interference no matter what noise level I choose. I have noticed that I can pick up the guys jig/spoon better that is fishing beside me than the one below the transducer I have emailed Humminbird Sunday with no contact as of yet other than the standard conformation email. Any other suggestions.
leech~~
Have you tried taking off the useless extra cable in the end of the transducer? They had to put it on there for some kind of patent reason, but I took mine off the first day I got it. Sometimes it will not let your ducer hang straight down and it will sit at a bit of angle in the hole. And it's just another thing in the way when pulling fish out of the hole. Sad to say I sold mine and went back to the old trusty FL-18. It also eat battery power way faster then the LF-18. Good Luck.
Borch
Get rid of the cable system. Sounds like you transducer is not hanging straight down. As far as the noise issues goes the hummingbirds play well with other units but not with each other. Run one in wide beam and the other in narrow and your interference issues will improve significantly. gunner55
randerson
Thank you I will give that a shot. I was afraid to take the extra cabling off as the transducer cable is very light duty in comparison to the vexilar
Pooh
I've been using my ice55 for 4 or 5 winters. Never used the suspension cable hummingbird supplies. I've never had a problem. gunner55
Jim Uran
I agree with Borch and Pooh, get rid of the cable support. I've been using mine for a couple seasons now without it and I don't even use the foam float. They are a solid unit, I love the big display.
