Note that the big Brainerd tourney has been changed to FEBRUARY 6th, due to poor ice conditions. That's also SUPER BOWL weekend, guys......

Doesn't sound like they talked it through.  A call to them might save their butt..  The week after Super Bowl would attract many more people.

they probably can't have it the weekend before Eelpout and the SB is so freaking late on Sunday I could walk home by game time...

So the tourney is on Sat. and the SB is on Sunday, why would that be a problem??

Oh I thought it was the same day.  No problem then....

Everyone will be heading home Sunday morning anyway.

Because a lot of bowl fans make it (the bowl) a 2 day event, and a lot of folks travel from out of state to go to it, making it a weekend fishing event. I have a group here that won't go all the way up there if it's that weekend.  A group from east central Wisc, no way are they gonna hot-foot it all the way back the same day for the super bowl party they're having the next day. I've done the arrangements for other groups before, and believe me, it  makes a difference. That's why.

I'm sure they will loose some people, but the alternate date is on the ticket. It's all about priorities he people that really want to fish will find a way to make it work.

If you've been here for the tourney before you would see how many crazies drive from points on the lake that are never really safe because of cracks or current by points. With only seven inches in some areas I'm sure that had a bearing too. As far as the hotels are concerned it went from a weekend that it was the only thing happening to a weekend with a huge basketball tourney and a hockey tourney so rooms are already sold out most places and those that are left are because of cancellations and at peak prices. That first weekend in Feb and the next weekend are the busiest hotel weekends of the winter, very close to 4th of July busy.

When they decided to make the change, another week  or two would have made a huge difference. It is about raising funds for local charities, among other things....there definitely will be a monetary impact. I know our group has now cancelled this year, due to previous Super Bowl plans of two of the members.
