a knife is a cooking related item.

Update, sheath has been devoured I'm pretty sure.  I found the little snap that holds the knife in sheath in mudroom last night.  Rebs idea on soaking the handle overnight didn't so much.  It did make it a bit softer but bit marks are too deep.  That did clean some impregnated blood off of the handle though, so that's a positive.

What's kind of amazing is that the snap hasn't held real good for years so I tie an old hockey lace around it too.  I found the hockey lace piece, the leather must have been too much for her to avoid, it too had a lot of scent on it.

What's good and amazing is that she didn't cut herself.  That knife is the sharpest knife I own because I baby it.  That night I came home from a meeting and she was laying in the mudroom waiting for me, she never does that and it made me forgive her a little more.

when I win the lottery tonight the knife will still bum me out.  36 years of memories.  I may just buy a new knife and try to make it to 84 years old to get another 36 years out of the new one.  (Boar 48+36= 84)

While it doesn't currently look very nice, it's not rendered unusable, is it?  Over time the bite marks will fade and it will become an cool story in the history of the knife when you pass it on you your kids someday.  I broke my Case knife I had since I was a kid this year while field dressing my deer.  Completely my fault, was trying to rush breaking the pelvis and used a small rock to tap the back of the knife.  The blade snapped - I should've had the right tool in the first place. It REALLY bummed me out because the handle of that particular knife bore the stains of years' and deers' past.  It had a textured grip that the blood really stuck to, got in the grooves, etc.  I quickly noticed this while trying to clean it and then I decided that it was much more fitting to just get the surface clean and let the stuff in the grip be a testament to the many years of successful hunting it served.

thanks leech, I had looked it up a bit but have to ponder it.  Case repairs knives too, frankly I'd probably send it to them, looks pretty painless.  They say not to send the knife back in a plain envelope by the way, I assume a few chuckleheads have attempted that?

Also leech, I don't know why I didn't think about her eating it which you had mentioned but you were right.  I'd post a photo of the snaps thats left but it's about 3/8 an inch and not worthy.
