Little Buddy Question

I am new to the use of the Little Buddy heater, I've been using a very old Mr Heater mini-sunflower since the mid to late eighties, a couple of decades anyway. I think the CO coming out of it wasn't great for me (was getting headaches and burning eyes) so I switched to a little buddy that I was gifted at Xmas last year, I started it up over the weekend, the pilot light came on great and started after about 3-4 pushes of the button, the ceramic disk however took like 15-20 minutes before it turned orange, is that normal? I took it apart and cleaned it....twice, but got the same result..., Thanks in advance for any help...

Yes it begins to heat and run normal(?) but takes about 15-20 minutes before the blue flame rolls over the white ceramic disk, just prior to turning orange and it is the little buddy so only has one heat level, no high or low...at least that I have noticed... all I see is an on and off button on the handle... Thanks for replying..

I have the "Little Buddy", I tried blowing out as much of the unit as I could reach with both canned air and my air compressor, it works better/faster (thanks Rebel) but still not getting an appropriate orange ceramic plate, I know this because I compared it to a friends little buddy, his takes like a minute and a half to start up and turn to a more brilliant orange color, mine is taking like ten minutes just to start, I'm thinking there is a blockage in there someplace... hopefully I can figure it out before the weekend, we're supposed to go out near Willmar someplace... maybe I'll just buy a bucket load of hand warmers and toss them all in the sled for heat...LOL....
