Lot depends on the location of the venison.   That Pine County venison that lived on alder and pine boughs was pretty gamey.  I never liked it when my dad brought it home.  Moose was much better.  

Now a deer living around Rochester and strolling from bean field to corn field to alfalfa field to pea field might well be a different story.
