New mower engine

Horse pucky! Look at the diagram....looks just like any engine today. Ya, high heat, heavy load conditions won't make any difference at all, right....give me a break.

It will not need an engine oil change until it seizes up and melts metal-to-metal.

The only engine for a lawn mower -or any other small machine- is a Honda.  Accept it fellas and quit worrying.  A brother had log splitter that took 30 minutes to start. I told him "put a Honda on there."  He did and has been happily splitting wood for years. Same brother had TWO lawn mowers with well known brand engines because usually only one would run right.  Told him get a Honda. He has been mowing for past  eight years on his Honda that starts with first pull....every time.  Same brother had gen set for his fish house that took forever and a can of starter fluid to fire up.  Told him Honda man.....get a Honda.

I'm offering the same advice to my friends here.  Save stress and strain, worry and emotional pain, start with a Honda and relax.

And I almost forgot......ever run a Honda outboard?   Mine ran down the lake with my coffee cup sitting on top!!

While I believe what your saying I have a Honda Foreman ATV and the electric shifting freezes up when it gets cold out and is nearly impossible to start if the battery dies  because you have to be a body builder to pull the cord.  Great comedy when I'm plowing snow to see me standing up and  attempting to rock it back and forth to get it to shift.  I look like a freaking you know what star with coveralls on in a blizzard.

Wait, you're suppose to change the oil in your lawnmower? Seriously, why bother? The wife will usually hit something and turn the blade into a U-shaped weapon of death which tears up everything else. I get a new mower every 3-5 years. Haven't changed oil on one yet!

Bought a new mower, cheapest they made, when I bought my house and that was in 2006...haven't changed the oil once. I have no doubt they could easily go 12 years without an oil change. 

Takes me 30 minutes to mow lawn...once a week...for 26 weeks. That's 13 hrs a year. Heck, that's about 150 hrs in 12 years.

Leechlake, use a 0-40 syn oil for wet clutch, a good battery, turn the idle speed down and your shifting problems with the (ES) electric shift will disappear.

 

 

As far as the $400 mower engine, I'm good.
