no need for 15 hours.  you can start a roast at noon an eat it for supper, fall apart style..

That is what I have been doing cooking it for 6-8 hours and that does not seem to be long enough. Thanks for the tips I will try one more chuck roast and if it is not fall a part tender I am going to stick with Veni Roasts and pork roasts, because I do not seem to have any issues with those.

Slow Cooker Pulled Beef Sandwiches are a favorite of mine.  We always use chuck roast in a slow cooker for about 8 - 10 hours.  I start with about a cup or half jar of the sliced pepperoncini's in the bottom of the slow cooker, put roast on top.  Sprinkle one packet of the dry Good Seasons Italian dressing mix on the roast, salt and pepper, and pour one can of beer on top.  Close and cook all day.  Makes for a very tender roast with great juices for the sandwiches.  You can add olives, onion, diced celery or whatever you want.  This is just the base recipe.

I agree that chuck roast is the best roast.  I cooked two chucks on top of one another at deer camp in the crock pot on low for our beef commercial (Hot roast beef sandwiches with mashed tators and gravy - mmmmm).  Started about 6 am and we ate about 7 pm or so and it was pull apart good.  I put one bottle of water in the crock but I really like the beer idea and will use that next time.  The liquid bubbles and boils a bit but I do not think that hurts it one bit.  Wife and I ate the leftovers on Monday but it wasn't as good cause it was at home and not deer camp.

Many years ago we used to make "barbeque beef" in crockpot.   Chuck Roast, small bottle ketchup, bottle beer (non craft.  was all there was).   Maybe an onion chopped up.  cook all day.

Right up there with the weenies with chili sauce and grape jelly.

I agree with leech, Moose, yer gonna dry that thing out like Granny's er, ah, cornflakes. I'm going for 10 hrs in that crackpot with a marinated roast and lotsa onions and a cup of beef broth. :P

PS....Seriously, marinate the roast in a can of Dr. Pepper or Coca-cola....those are some old school recipes I've tried that work.

I wouldnt at tater til the last hour half or they break down a get muchy. carrots are 2 hours at least pending the size, onions I add right away. and season with mckormic steak seasoning. you can try low for 10 if ya want. my style, and yu dont have to follow, this is just me. 3hrs on high, then 3-4 on low. I also remove liquid that get over an inch deep in the corck pot from juices and condensation.Good luck!! if it dont work out blame it on smurf and reb..
