Bass Whacker
I'm hoping there is a Suzuki mechanic out there that can tell me how many models and years would have a compatible gearcase for my '99 25 HP Suzuki model DT25C. I hit a log out on the river and put a bend in my propshaft and wrecked a prop. I will be trying a new prop first to fix the vibration, but at .009" runout I think the shaft will have to go. I know Merc's spec for a simular outboard is .006". Any input would be much appreciated.
delcecchi
Could an automotive machine shop straighten it?
Bass Whacker
I'm sure I could find someone to do it and I found a propshaft for cheap. If I can find a used complete gearcase for cheap I would go that route since the housing was already welded once to fix a crack.
delcecchi
I would start at the bay of e if you haven't already looked there. There is a complete lower unit for an 88-89 25c for 299 plus shipping or make offer. Or twin cities outboard. In shakopee. 952.496.1951 Looks like calling them is the best thing since they appear to be updating the page
RebelSS
Don't waste time...Call Twin City outboard. http://twincityoutboard.com/ Edited November 3, 2015 by RebelSS
Bass Whacker
Twin cities did not have a '99 and they did not know which other years would work. They did offer to try and match it up if I bring them my lower, but they said they get very little Suzuki parts in there so they couldn't promise anything. I do appreciate the input, keep it coming. RebelSS
Those rats!!! Guess I'd shoot for some of the bigger Twin Cities dealers...someone has to be able to hook you up.
marine_man
I'd spend a little time on an online parts lookup tool to identify through that tool which lower units are interchangeable, unless you can find a "big" Suzuki dealer...marine_man
Ufatz
The reason they have so few Suzuki parts is because so few Suzuki's have problems. Look around for a while if you want, then man up and just call Suzuki.
delcecchi
Well, maybe. But they also didn't sell many of the Suzuki two strokes either. Didn't Suzuki get out of the US market for a while, and then come back, first mainly as OMC 4strokes and then as their own? I love my 140. And there was one gearcase on the bay.
