Some say they've had good luck with them. We've used them & had good results as with any battery a little TLC,water/posts clean/charged,goes a long way.We have a Everstart starting battery in ours,we bought in the fall when we didn't have much of a selection, that seems to be holding up.

I have used the Wal-Mart marine batteries for years and have good life out of them, charging after each use and once during the winter. The dealer I bought my new outboard from installed an Interstate battery for starting, etc. It has not been a dependable battery. It needed to be replaced in year three, and I almost always get 5-6 years out of the Everstart. The batteries from Wal-Mart for vehicles on the other hand, not so good.

They also only have a 1 year warranty with no pro-rate after that. I have given the battery the TLC like you mentioned and am kind of puzzled to why it only lasted 2 years. The only thing I can think of is the plug in charger built in to the boat caused a problem with it.

I used to use The Everstart battery then they must of changed manufactures. The batteries were noticeably lighter and did not last 2 seasons and they changed the warranty. I use an onboard charger and recharge immediately after each use and keep water levels full. I switched to Interstate and that set went 5 years before replacement with same charger and routine. My new Stratos came with interstate for starter as well as 2 for 24 volt system on 3rd season. I will replace with the same interstates when they need replacing.

I've had numerous brands of batteries over the years, and the Neverstarts were the biggest pieces of junk I'd ever seen, IMHO. Two years tops. Friends agree. They used to be made by Johnson Controls, who makes a lot of batteries for various companies. Don't know who makes them now, but they must have really built them cheaply for Wally World. I stick with Interstates; they go the distance.

I have had the used the Fleet Farm batteries, I just replaced 2 of them and both were just over 5 years old, 1 was still good but got 2 new since they were are pretty cheap. I would say 150.00 for 5 years will work for me

I agree with the Wal-Mart battery being junk. Marine and automotive! Stop by the shop on any given day and you will see our core box full Never-Starts and Werked-overs (batteries plus).

I just replaced my Fleet Farm battery after 5 years. I am embarrassed to admit it but I never checked the water in it. It was just about dry and was obviously not holding a charge. Tried filling and trickle charging but it wouldn't come back to life. I figured 5 years was a pretty good life for a poorly maintained marine battery and bought another from Fleet Farm.

On sale the week before opener to boot!

Fleet Farm are made by East Penn Battery. Same company that makes NAPA batteries, As far as I know...

Side Bar...... The Werker flasher batteries are tops on my list. I have always had good luck with them.
