Shocked... BassCat owners step inside..

So I saw today on BassCat web page that they joined the Correct Craft(Nautique) family. From the sounds of it the Pierce family is still going to run the company, which makes me happy. But was shocked to say the least, this was not anything I saw coming from a mile away.

I am going to wait for the dust to settle, and see what changes actually happen before I make a judgement.

I wish the Pierce family well... When I bought my Cat used, I got a personal phone call from the parts department on my way home welcoming me to the family. By the time I got home, there was a hand written note from Rick himself and a hat waiting for me at my doorstep. Every time I have called, I talked to a real person quickly and was made feel welcome and my problems were solved quickly and with no problems. I hope this type of attention to customer satisfaction is kept up. I know with the Pierce family still in charge it will.

I sure hope the quality stays the same. I really liked the idea that the company was family owned. I was really leaning toward a cat being my next boat (which wont be for a couple years) but I'll see what happens in the next couple of years. I've heard nothing but great things about the company and hope it stays that way.

Not a bass guy, but basscat just purchased Yarcraft not all that long ago and now they sell out? That has to have the former owners of Yarcraft a bit miffed I would think. Since one of the main reasons for them selling to BassCat was because it was a family run business.

I hear what you are saying Del..

I did a bit of digging today after hearing the news. Again from the sounds of it, both YarCraft and BassCat will still be run by the Pierce family at this time. I think that is a very good thing. Might even be a great thing, I know they had ideas and had hopes of trying some new things but didnt have the coin to really give it a full go. Maybe now they will.

Sadly, I saw a ton of posts(not on here) that said former owner will no longer buy a BassCat because they "sold out".. I bit my tongue, but really what brand are you then going to buy? What companies are now still family owned?

I'm still pretty darn proud to own a Cat!

Nautiques are some if the finest tow boats out there. Not a bad company to "sell out" to IMHO it probably has a lot to do with operating capital than anything it is hard to get a bank to get behind anything today unless you know the right people and new boat models ain't exactly cheap to bring to market
