Archtek
I have a cottonwood in my back yard that has been dying a little at a time over the last couple years and I'm thinking it may be time to get rid of it. It's in a spot that I can easily drop it myself. The City will take wood free of charge up to 12" diameter (I haul it there). But I would still be left with about 30' of trunk larger than that. Anyone know how I would get rid of the big stuff?
PurpleFloyd
Someone with a saw mill may take it. Cottonwood is mainly used for pallets, crates etc.
bobberineyes
You can always advertise it on that other site as free firewood, lots of people out there that don't care what they burn to heat a garage or whatever.
Powerstroke
The same city that will pick up your wood for free, may also have a drop site where you can bring logs for disposal, just most cities don't have the time or the equipment to move logs around. I would check to see if you have a yard waste disposal.
LightningBG
Where are you located? That will help determine where to get rid of it.
