Cyberflex and 3X plastics

Does anybody use these things successfully? I have had nothing but trouble with these baits. The few bites I get often end up without a hookup. Can't seem to get a hook through a texas or texposed rigged bait with any consistency. Do the new style superplastic hooks help? Have fished the 3X zero(senko style bait) and think it is a great idea, but have trouble hooking fish. The only bright side of these baits has been the jig trailers by Strike King. Since these baits are not rigged with the hook point buried I havn't seen a decline in hookups. However, they do give a jig a much "lighter" feel.

I like the jig trailers a lot - they float up off the jig and stay put on your hook pretty good. You can fish all day with no worries. The rest of the baits I personally don't care much for - when you want a bait that floats for a carolina rig or something, they can be good.

Just make sure not to leave these in the sun long at all - they are much worse as far as melting and making a mess than traditional plastics from my experience. Texposed doesn't seem to work as well with these since the hook point sticks in a little too well. I usually use the standard T-rig on these.

Well you have all given them a ringing endorsment so I think I will go out and buy somemore that I won't use. I don't like them at all either. Have not tried the trailers but I may have to. Probably next year. The season is winding down with hunting coming now.

Hey Superduty,
Nothing like mowing through senco's at 60 cents a pop on 10" fish huh? Can't wait to get back out there.

I have had great success with the trailers (chunks) and have had no hook-up problems with the zeros (senko type) I do use the HP hook when I rig the zeros. I've also been using the zeros on a gopher head jig, and you do have to work to get them set on the jig, but after that they last for 10-15 fish.

The super plastics are a great concept - they do stretch a lot, last forever, plus with certain presentations the floating action is to be preferred (carolina). However, it's been my experience that I have lost more fish than I've caught because you can't get a good hook set with them. Texposed is impossible because the hook won't slip free of the plastic. The more hook point you have showing the better the hooking percentage, but with that comes more weeds than I care to take off in a day! That is why they are good with jigs (exposed hook). They cause the tail/claws to stand up like a normal craw. You have to fish a jig really slow (let it sit on bottom) for this to be a factor. It's a nice subtle action and is the best on a finesse 1/4 to 3/8oz jig. On a 1/2oz the weight of the jig starts to offset the bouyancy of trailer. Another option for a trailer is cut a superplastic creature bait in half and use it as a trailer. A little more bulk/bouyancy for heavier jigs.

Just my 2cents

I've successfully caught one largemouth on the Cyberflexxx. I shoved a Slo-Poke Grubmaster in a 6" lizard, hook exposed, and slowly drug it in. I had many tugs on the tail, one fish engulfed the thing. I like that it floats but they are hard to work with.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
