Relocating a Shed

calli4120

Question

Does anyone have experiance with reloacting a shed?

I have the oppertunity to pick up a 10X16 very cheap, but I will need to move it about 100 miles. I have access to a skid loader, lowboy flatbed trailer, and semi truck. Besides having to get an oversized load permit, what else should I consider before attempting this?

Does anyone have experiance hauling something like this? Would I be better off hiring someone to move it?

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes a great deal does not turn to be all that great for the one getting the deal, You might be better off building your own shed on your site rather then taking someone's else shed. A lot of times a good deal just because it is a good deal is a good reason to step back and ask yourself if you really need the good deal. Seems the older you get you seem to pass on good deals, been there, done that... sounds like a lot of headache, skid loader needed on both ends? lifting, leveling, footings, tear up the yard? got to be some beer involved, lots of hidden costs! Hahah. good luck either way. Bobby

Would there be a way to take the shed apart for transport? I have lifted 2 different sheds in the 16 x 24 area and moved them from across the yard to a couple miles but that kind of distance is a lot of stress on you and the shed and all the bracing.

Don't forget the one they were trying to move east of town that ended up falling off the trailer and falling apart that day we were gopher hunting.

We Had a lot better day than they did. Bracing broke and shed dropped on the road. They tried to get back on the trailer and it went sideways into the ditch in front of a guy's place. They

Picked it up one piece of a board at a time...
