Fish house heater

I put a HouseWarmer brand from Menards in my last shack. More than happy with it and read they are manufactured by Empire.

You're gonna pay a chunk for any vented heater....... but it is really hard to spend the money people try saving from getting a ventless heater when yer dead....... wink

Yep, I have one in my fish house. They were made by a guy out in WI for strikemaster. Wish a person could still find them or that style of heater.

I also have one and so does about 30 fish houses in my town. The fish houses where all built about 10 years ago so they were a HOT item but now you don't see them.(out of business) but they do take up a lot of room in a fish house but i love mine. I got a 20,000 BTU in a 6.5x8…….Yep it keeps it toasty!!

Jerkbait what size do you have?

I had a 15,000 but I found a 20,000 on c-list a couple of years ago brand new in the box for $45. I had got ahold of the guy that built them back in 2004, I wanted to put the thermostat control on my 15k. So he sent me out the control. When I got the 20k I switched the control over to that one. I like these heaters. I usually have a can of water sitting on top getting heated. Mine is in an 8x16 house and does a fine job.

I am having an idea of building a small (maybe on skids) spear/fish house.

Our local lake opened up to spearing this year. SO i would like to try it.

I would like to build a wood burner stove. Anyone have any ideas on how big of stove to weld up or how thick of steel to build it out of?

Any wood burners out there still?

So your saying they can sell such a thing as a ProCom Vent-Free Propane Ice House Heater that would kill you?? I realize some people could kill themselves playing with a box of tooth picks but I was considering one of these for my house. Anyone have any real experience with these?

Ventless heaters are by far cheaper , but I would never trust

one in a shack I was gonna sleep in . Not to mention the added

moister you end up with in the entire shack . I had bought one

a few years ago & put it in a deerstand & I was constantly wipeing

The water & frost off the windows ! Needless to say I threw it in the

junk pile . Should have put the vented in right to begin with !

Now no issues . Vented is the only way to go in a fishouse it helps dry

everything also , like after you drill holes and such .

Go vented & you'll feel safer & you'll definitely be happier !

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
