quacksmackMN
Hi everyone, me and a buddy are considering doing a 3-4 day fishing trip in the upcoming weeks and we would really like to catch some lake trout... Does anyone know of a good laker lake in northern MN that they would be willing to disclose?? Last year we tried Vermillion with no luck... hoping for something maybe a little more remote this time. We snowmobilied out and camped on an island for 3 days last year, it was fun but this year we're hopin to catch some fish! Pretty clueless about lake trout fishing so any advice would be appreciated! Mike Stark
Lake trout season opens Jan. 1 on lakes entirely in the BWCA and Jan. 17th on lakes outside the BWCA. Vermilion doesn't have lake trout. Maybe a very random trout coming in from Trout lake. Burntside and Snowbank are two lakes in the Ely area that are out of the BWCA. There are lots of lake trout lakes inside the BWCA but most are pretty far back and take some time getting to unless you go in via dogsled. leech~~
Mike beat me to it! There are more Laker-lakes up in Canada but it would take a lot more planning for a trip up there if self guided.
delcecchi
Lac LaCroix might be the most convenient. Or there are a whole bunch of lakes around Atikokan.

Also, if you have sleds to fish from and need a home base sleeper to stay at night on the lake. PM Mike S above I think he can set you up! JBMasterAngler
Look up lake trout stocking reports on the DNR lake finder. Very useful tool. Grand Marais area has the most laker lakes, with Gunflint Lake probably being the most accessible.
