Media Concerned About Minnesota Deer

I love some of you guys are so hung up on the fact that he worked for the DNR that you've already written him off.

It's entirely possible that his knowledge of how things actually get done within the DNR, and the connections he has, could work in the MDHA's favor. Or, that he is fed up with the way the DNR manages the herd and wanted a position where he felt he could make positive changes?

At the very least, it would be reasonable to wait until he has actually started his job before evaluating his performance.

Oh My. Not another "no public facilities" guy. You should look up BigDave2 in Sillytown. You think alike.

Where did I mention not wanting public facilities? We need some but the extent that people want other people to pay for their favorite activities has gone way to far.

Easy example of this is our culture of Sports. It is a religion to people and a necessity too so they think. That is why we need public funded Twins and Viking Stadiums. The Legacy Act is to us what the stadiums are to sports fans.

Another example is ObamaCare. I don't have to go into detail but basically the people who have insurance are paying a heck of a lot more now to cover those who don't have it so they can be insured.

Free education is another example. Make everyone in your county based on their land/house value pay for your kids education. You pay for it yourself! Oh wait the argument then is we would have a bunch of uneducated kids around and it is our responsibility as a community to better it. Seems like we have a good dose of that now anyways. Hmm seems like we are getting our moneys worth there.

Point is make the masses pay for your favorite program or the programs you want. The ends justify the means.

Sounds like BigDave2 knows what he is talking about then. wink I don't know this guy but I am sure he and I are not the only ones that think we are being over taxed by our government for these so called "noble causes" that we must have.

I will do this, and wait to see what his "opening statement" is as Ex. Director of MDHA...with any luck I won't be terminating my membership...but I have my doubts

I hope so too. You're running out of organizations left to join and someone who likes to talk about deer hunting as much as you do should be part of one of them.

Never been much of a "joiner". I was a QDMA member for a long time, but never belonged to any local chapter. Joined MDHA because I was hoping they'd prove themselves to be staunch advocates of deer hunters in MN. Local chapters appear to be...the state office does not.

Pretty sure I can talk deer hunting without belonging to any organizations. wink

Just trying to give you a compliment Ssmith. We don't always seem eye to eye, but there's no doubt you're passionate about deer.

Appreciate that..very few of us in the state are always going to agree on everything, especially on internet forums. I always tell myself that if I were having these discussions face to face I'd bet most of us would end those discussions agreeing on more items than not.

Since I had posted the preliminary WI CDAC recommendations on this thread earlier, figured I'd post the final form. Now it will be up to the Natural Resources Board and DNR to follow (or not follow) the recommendations put forth.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
