BartmanMN
cheaper to get a big buddy, but a thermal top 650 would be good too.
JoeMX1825
check kraigs list, lots of Thermals for sale close to your price point...pay a little extra for the full thermal, you're regret not going full thermal...
gill man
Last year I bought a new, old stock Otter XT900 (blue ice camo) cabin. Fully insulated. I can't believe how easy it heats. I have a Big Buddy but almost never take it off low, maybe never have.Fished it in well, well below 0 temps with wind and it stays warm very well. I imagine the 650 top would hold a lot of heat in, but I believe part of what's special about the fully insulated shacks is the lack of flapping in the wind, and thus not losing a lot of the warm air inside.I was a little doubtful myself for the money, but if you can swing it, fishing in a fully insualted shack is a very nice experience, in pretty much any weather you'd be willing to venture out in. Ridgerunnr
I know I'd love a full thermal...but I've looked for used to no avail and new isn't an option The 650 w double outer fabric has no thread holes and looks heavy duty. Combined w the thermal roof it HAS to be better than my popup. Looking for first hand experience w it from someone
zppeterson
I have last years XT650 lodge. I don't think you'll be disappointed in having the thermal top. Great house for the money. I also have a big buddy and rarely take it off low. The one time I did turn it up last year was -15 with a wind. The bench is comfortable but there are times I do wish I had the individual seats. It will definitely be better and much warmer than your pop up. Esox_Magnum
I have the 600 and 650. Both are plenty warm. Unmatched quality to.
PurpleFloyd
Also, take a look at the Frabill with the side doors. THAT is an option every flip should have.
