mrpike1973
I went to charge my marcum battery. its been charging for almost a day and a half the charger still shows red the battery is hot but it seems to work fine. I tried it on my other marcum and it only takes about 2 hours would you say the battery is getting bad?
20lbSloughShark
Can you test it with a voltmeter?-Tom
DaSwede
I would say it's your battery. Mine did the same thing. It just won't go to green, so I bought a new one at FF, and within a couple hours, it turned green. I'm going to use the old one as a back up, as it did still work really well. mrpike1973
Sorry no I don't have a voltmeter. i could bring it to my work what should the volts read its a standard battery? I think I will change it
20lbSloughShark
It depends on the battery, but after charging it, take it to work, and anything under about 12.6 volts would probably be bad. My guess is your batter is bad, but this is an easy way to know for sure.-Tom
aczr2k
If you search on here a lot of Marcum chargers won't turn green even after charging for days. I'm done with their poor chargers, after the LX7 charger smoked my battery last year this year its a new battery and I'm using a battery tender for a charger. leechlake
Obvious thought but I seem to always forget. If it's bad bud still works a bit and you plan on keeping it for a back up label it with a sharpie so 2 years from now you know which battery's are good and which are back ups. I had a frustrating Winter last year for a while because I had 2 good ones and 3 that were sketchy and I hadn't labeled them. Took some trial and error and time to sort the mess out. Seems I don't know the right was to dispose of them so they sit around and next thing your know all of them are sitting on the same shelf and I don't which is which. Mine is a user error problem.
