bucketmouth64
What is the shelf life of peanut oil for my turkey fryer? Oil been used 2-3 times. It's about 3 years old, it's been stored in the plastic jugs. I'm guessing it shouldn't be used, but I just thought I would ask. What's the best way to dispose of old oil? Ask local restaurants if they would dispose it?
fishattacker
I always get rid of old cooking oil by starting a little campfire and burning it.
delcecchi
You can always smell and taste it. If it is rancid, it should be pretty obvious. It doesn't spoil and get dangerous so far as I know, it just smells and tastes bad.

pikestabber
Freeze it when not in use...stores well for a long time. As others have said, the oil will let you know. Rancid oil has a horrible smell.
