x1957x
looking to make some turkey or pheasant jerkey in my dehydrator. Anyone got a recipe for this? Does it dry out where its not worth even trying etc.?
outdoors247
It depends on what type of dehydrator you have. I would make sure it goes to at least 165. Cooking birds any lower than that is a risky adventure. If your dehydrator doesn't go to 165 you can always use your oven. Do a quick google search on turkey jerky and you will find all sorts of recipes. I've never tried it because I have way to many recipes to cook pheasant and reserve the jerky recipes for goose breasts. I've made goose jerky in my oven with great success. Good luck! eyeguy 54
I have ground it and mixed with Hi Mountain 2 times. Good stuff. Did goose also once and actually liked it better. Mesquite flavor.
Rip_Some_Lip
I do pheasant jerky all the time. I slice it and use high mountain seasoning. I also put in the oven at 180 for an hour after I take it out of dehydrator.
