chainsaw issue

My Husqvarna starts and runs at idol and up to about 2/3 power but then bogs down and won't run at wide open. I have fresh gas mix in it. I know there is a blue and reddish adjustment screw on it but don't know if this is a solution and how I should go about it. I tinkered with them a bit but nothing change so I put them back in the original position as close as I could.

I'm not much of a mechanic so anything involving cleaning carbs etc will just have me bring it in to get it fixed but if this is something simple I want to try that first. Any thoughts?

Sounds like your high speed mixture ports are plugged. A quick thing to try is to turn the hi speed setting screw all the way in (DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN) counting the number of turns then turn it back out to where it was. This can dislodge foreign debris that may have accumulated.

Perhaps a carb cleaner may be helpful but check with your Husky dealer to be sure what you use won't cause other damage.

Beyond that it may require carb dis-assembly and cleaning.

Thanks Bob- I did that and also cleaned the air filter. I've got it working at about 90% which is good enough for the task I want to do today. Appreciate the help.

Husqvarna vs Stihl is a Chevy vs ford thing as which one is better but this is a perfect example of why you buy these top end chainsaws from a reputable dealer and not the box store. Our stihl dealer told me he prefers customers just to bring these issues right to him and if no parts are needed it's free of charge as long as the saw was purchased from him.

Like Bob said I would try a little Seafoam in the tank.Or whatever carb cleaner you have on hand.

bought it from the Husqy dealer near our cabin in Walker MN. I'm at home 200 miles away but I will bring it up this weekend and I'm sure they will take care of it.

I had a Stihl a while back do something similar ... turned out to be the muffler was plugged with carbon deposits. Might give your muffler a look to see if it is getting plugged ... a relatively simple fix, just scrape out the carbon.

Look at the Muffler! Is there two screws and a plate at the out let?

If so take the two screws off and there is a spark arresting screen

it may be plugged.

Check the fuel filter inside of the gas tank!

Reach in with a wire with a hook bent into the end and pull the fuel line and filter out of the fill cap opening.

If it is partially plugged get a new filter from your dealer and install it.
